Moscow; On September 10 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov took part in a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.
On the eve of the SCO Ministerial Council meeting, the Foreign Ministers of the SCO member states met with the President of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
During the SCO Ministerial Council meeting, the Foreign Ministers of the SCO member states discussed a wide range of issues of global and regional development, as well as the state and prospects for further development of the SCO’s activities, taking into account the global political and socio-economic consequences of the pandemic of the novel coronavirus infection COVID-19.
H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov expressed gratitude to the SCO member states for their help, support and cooperation. At the same time, he stressed that the countries are facing difficult tasks – the fight against coronavirus and overcoming its consequences, post-pandemic economic recovery and development, as well as ensuring security and stability in the region.
In this regard, the Kyrgyz side noted the need for close interaction within the Organization, as well as strengthening the relevant work in all key areas of cooperation that exist in the SCO.
Along with other issues, the sides exchanged views on the role of the SCO in the system of international relations in the light of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in World War II and the 75th anniversary of the creation of the UN.
