ISLAMABAD: Monitoring Desk – On October 21, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf at the request of the Algerian side.
The ministers reviewed priority matters of further strengthening Russia-Algeria deep strategic partnership.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of a trust-based political dialogue and reliable interaction at various multilateral forums, primarily the UN.
In this context, particular attention was paid to the programme of work of the UN Security Council in light of Russia’s ongoing presidency with a focus on the Western Sahara peace process, most notably the issue of decolonization in Western Sahara, on which a decision is expected to be issued before the end of the month.
