BELARUS SEEKS TRADE OF MEAT TO EGYPT THROUGH A COMPANY

Islamabad: Monitoring Desk – Belarus wants to supply non-halal meat to Egypt. Lukashenko’s entourage is trying to bring Belarusian producers, in particular Volkovysk Meat Processing Plant JSC, to the Egyptian market. As it turned out, this producer has a corresponding certificate, but it was issued by the Belarusian Center for Standardization and Certification of BelHalal LLC and is not valid in Egypt. High-ranking officials in Egypt can resolve the issue for a bribe, BelNovosti informs

“Currently, the Belarusian authorities are trying to obtain a certificate from the Egyptian IS EG Halal certification organization. In particular, the details of negotiations between representatives of Volkovysk Meat Processing Plant and the Egyptian side about the problem that only halal products are allowed on the Egyptian market, were discussed recently. According to the Egyptian side, this problem can be resolved if a certain influential person from the Egyptian side at the state level contributes to obtaining the IS EG Halal certificate.

It is also specified that Volkovysk Meat Processing Plant must ensure preferential terms for supplies to the Egyptian market, as well as organize a trip of the IS EG Halal inspection commission to the production at its own expense.

Minsk is carrying out similar work with the Iranian side.

“If we manage to reach an agreement with Iran, then more active work will begin with Egypt,” BelNovosti claims, citing sources in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

It is noted that representatives of BelHalal LLC as part of the Belarusian delegation would visit Cairo in December to participate in the Food Africa international exhibition of food products.

“Perhaps, during the visit, a meeting will be organized between representatives of BelHalal LLC and the Egyptian IS EG Halal with the aim of further cooperation,” BelNovosti writes.
