BAKU/ Azerbaijan, 13 Nov 2024: Pak NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik delivered a keynote address at Center for Climate Diplomacy event titled “Strengthening Resilience through Climate Diplomacy in Disaster Management” at Pakistan Pavilion, COP 29, Baku Azerbaijan.
The event highlighted the critical intersection of climate diplomacy and disaster resilience. Chairman NDMA underscored Pakistan’s dedication to collaborative, climate-conscious approaches for effective disaster risk reduction and resilience building.
Chairman NDMA emphasized the importance of climate diplomacy as a key strategy in advancing global cooperation and securing resources to address climate-induced disasters. He outlined NDMA’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and driving forward initiatives that support both national and global resilience frameworks.
His remarks highlighted Pakistan’s proactive engagement in climate diplomacy as a means to address and mitigate the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities.

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) held a significant panel discussion on “Exacerbation of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Issues in Women & Adolescent Girls Due to the Climate Crisis.”
This session, hosted at the Pakistan Pavilion, brought together global experts to share insights on how climate impacts are intensifying challenges for vulnerable communities.
Chairman NDMA, Lt General Inam Haider Malik, delivered the keynote address, highlighting potential policy frameworks and interventions to address these pressing issues.

The country’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) outlines comprehensive strategies to enhance resilience across various sectors.However, the implementation of these strategies is hindered by financial and technical constraints.
Anticipatory Actions (AA), a proactive tool for Risk-based Financing, should be institutionalized for climate financing grants. This approach enables timely interventions, reducing the impact of climate-related disasters and enhancing resilience in vulnerable communities.
