President Iran Visits Lahore – Meets Chief Minister & Governor – Pays Tributes to Allama Iqbal Lahori

LAHORE: Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi  arrived in Lahore on the second segment of his tour to Pakistan on 23 April. He was welcomed on arrival at Lahore Airport by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz held a meeting with Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi in Lahore today. They reaffirmed commitment to enhancing cultural exchanges and fostering people-to-people contacts.
The Chief Minister explained the measures taken in the province for socio-economic development and expressed a desire for close engagement with Iranian cities and provinces for mutual benefit and prosperity.
President Raisi appreciated the rich cultural history of the city of Lahore and expressed admiration for the poet of the East, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, who is revered in Iran as “Iqbal-e-Lahori”.
Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman held a meeting with Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi today. Welcoming President Raisi to Lahore, he underlined the deep historical, cultural and civilizational links between Pakistan and Iran.
President Raisi praised the city of Lahore for its beauty and cultural contribution and expressed a desire for enhanced people-to-people contacts with the people of Pakistan.
In Lahore, President Raisi visited to Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum and laid a wreath in honor of the renowned poet and philosopher. Federal Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada accompanied the President here. President paid homage to the Poet of the East and penned down his sentiments for Allama Iqbal and his poetry that awakened the people of sub continent against the colonial occupation.
