Islamabad Club is again in the news and gossip after a story of suicide of a female worker inside the leisure place of the elite class and bureaucracy of Pakistan. This time it is a severe matter of sexual harassment in which Presidency even has been involved for personal interests and favors only. 4 big bureaucrats are at daggers drawn while federal secretary level officials are using their influence from both sides.
The boy Wasif Kareem, working in Ufone was said to be drunk who tried to touch the girl. He abused the girl and her family and created a situation that was extremely awkward for the family. The boy advanced to the table of the family and behaved vulgar.
Raja Mohammad Masood a member visited the club with Wasif Kareem as guest on 03 Aug. They were having dinner at family hall. The boy harassed the girl, student of O-Level who is said to be the daughter of a civil officer. FIR has been registered against the boy under 354 , 509 of Pakistan Penal Code.FIR has registered by mother of the girl and Wasif is blamed of Assault on the girl who is in trauma since after the incident at about 9-30 PM night.
who has arranged pre arrest bail while the incident took place on Saturday, when the courts are not open. This shows the influence of the accused who is said to be nephew to secretary to President Shakeel Malik.
Shakeel Malik intervened the matter to save the boy. He called the victim family head from his office at the Presidency and asked him to visit the Presidency to have a talk on the case. The family head refused to accept the influence of Secretary to President.
Then Shakeel called DG FIA to pressurize the family head, who rejected his request for favor to influence the investigation and get the FIR back. Shakeel called secretary Interior but he too refused.
A big bureaucrat Rashid Langrial Chairman FBR called Shakeel and scolded him to stop intervention otherwise Shakeel too will be inducted in the FIR. Islamabad Police is accused of giving time to the boy to get pre arrest bail.
The lawyer of the accused boy is brother of another high official of Police group. Now , on both sides , Police officials are the parties in this case.
Islamabad Club has been in the news as mentioned above for different harassment cases in previous years. Former bureaucrat Sikandar Ismail is proved accused of harassment of a female employee of the club. Ombudsperson against Harassment fined Sikandar and Club Administration for this matter that has not been paid.
A reitred Col Qazi assaulted a female employee and his membership was cancelled. Another former bureaucrat Aftab Habib is also confirmed accused in legal process. His membership was also terminated.
