Tashkent / Uzbekistan: 28 Oct 2024 – As the polling in the election for the Oliy Majlis the Legislative Chamber end at 8 PM on 27 Oct , the digital system adopted at all levels helped the Central Election Commission to announce the Preliminary results on 28 Oct on 11 AM.
The voting turnout was encouraging with 74.7 percent, in which women and the youth participated enthusiastically with a national spirit according to the motto of the elections ” My Choice – My Prosperous Homeland..”
Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan Mr. Zayniddin Nizomkhodzhaev shared the details in a press conference in Tashkent today.
Five parties are participating in the elections: the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish,” Ecological Party, People’s Democratic Party, and Social Democratic Party “Adolat.”
This year’s elections has been held according to a mixed electoral system in line with the updated Constitution and national electoral legislation. This system provides for 75 members of the Legislative Chamber to be elected in single-mandate constituencies using the majority electoral system, while the remaining 75 members will be elected using the proportional representation electoral system with party lists.
Another notable aspect of this year’s elections is the full digitalization of the process through the “E-Saylov” information system.
Preliminary data from Uzbekistan’s parliamentary election indicates that the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – Liberal-Democratic Party has garnered 34.75 percent of the votes, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizomkhodzhaev confirmed.
In total, 5.19 million voters supported the Liberal-Democratic Party, resulting in the allocation of 26 parliamentary seats.
The “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party received support from approximately 2.81 million voters, translating to about 18.8 percent of the total votes and earning 14 seats.
The Ecological Party garnered around 1.96 million votes, accounting for 13.1 percent, resulting in the allocation of 10 parliamentary mandates.
The People’s Democratic Party received 2.55 million votes, equivalent to 17.1 percent, and secured 13 seats.
The Social-Democratic Party “Adolat” attracted about 2.42 million votes, representing 16.2 percent, resulting in 12 parliamentary seats.
