President of Azerbaijan & CAOS Pakistan Agree to Enhance Military Cooperation

    Baku/ Islamabad; Chief of Army Staff Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan in his office on 21 June 2021. Pakistan and Azerbaijan are expanding already existing exemplary mutual cooperation in military side.

    Both the leaders shared warm feelings and thoughts for each other and expressed satisfaction on the present level of bilateral cooperation in different sectors including defense and defense production.

    They agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation in above mentioned fields.

    During the meetings, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan Peace Process and bilateral defence and security cooperation in various fields were discussed. COAS said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan share common values based on rich cultural, religious and historical affinities and have tremendous geo-strategic significance / potential for mutually beneficial and enhanced cooperation at all forums. COAS also expressed Pakistan Army’s desire to further enhance bilateral military cooperation and regional partnership between the two countries.

    COAS Pakistan congratulated the President on Azerbaijan’s victory in aggression by Armenia. He offered full cooperation in clearing the mines installed by Armenians in the liberated territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.

    The President appreciated the cooperation and said that Azerbaijan values a lot the moral support Pakistan extended during the war.

    Ambassadors of both countries, Ali Alizade and Bilal Hayee were also present in the high level meeting.
