Martyrs are who sacrifice their today for their nation’s tomorrow. They give their precious lives for the defence of their motherland and become immortal. Martyrs leave this world but they live always in the hearts of their nation and the nation commemorate their sacrifices always to pay them homage for what they have done for their country. Azerbaijan thwarted the aggression of Armenia during 44 Days second Karabakh War from Sep 27, 2020 to Nov 10, 2020. As many as 2,907 Azerbaijani soldiers were martyred and 1,245 soldiers were also injured depicting it was a large scale war waged by the aggressor against Azerbaijan including the civilian population.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Islamabad held a photo exhibition on 14 Oct 2021 to apprise the Pakistani brothers and sisters about the war, how it started, what was the background, how Armenia hit civilian population including children, women, elderly people and civilian installations, how the aggressor damaged the cultural heritage in occupied territories when they were about to be liberated by brave Azerbaijani soldiers.
Photos related to war and Armenian aggression were exhibited. Some photos were about how Azerbaijan leadership, President Ilham took the challenge and how he led the military to prove equal to the task of the defence of their motherland. Moreover, the vibrant and vigilant leadership not only defended the country but liberated occupied territories from Armenian coercion and tyranny.
The first lady Mehriban Aliyeva was also present in the war field shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers. She inspired the mothers and daughters of the nation who then stood firm against the enemy. The women of Azerbaijan proved themselves another defence line of their country.
Ambassador Khazar Nadir Oglu Farhadov hosted the exhibition alongwith the staff of the embassy including Col Mehman Novruzov defence attache and Elchin Mehdiyev the media coordinator. Spouses of the staff were also present. It was the mall of biggest shopping place in Islamabad , The Centaurus that attracted a large number of audience other than the invited guests.
Ambassadors, diplomats, civil society, youth representatives, media and press also attended the exhibition and took interest in the photos and their captions to know more about Azerbaijan and the war.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan was interviewed by many media persons at this occasion. He thanked Pakistan for continued support during the aggression. He appreciated Pakistan’s principled stand on Karabakh and not having relations with Armenia for occupation on Azerbaijani territories. The exhibition was hosted with complete observation of COVID-19 SoPs.
Armenia occupied Azerbaijani territories (20% of the country) for three decades. Big regional and world powers failed to solve the dispute and mostly took the side of the aggressor. On 27 Sep 2020 Armenian Army launched attacks on civilians and Azerbaijani forces and violated several humanitarian cease-fire agreements.
Thus Armenia was responsible for second Karabakh war that culminated in Azerbaijan’s victory liberating the occupied territories. Azerbaijan liberated several cities and nearly 300 settlements and villages from Armenian occupation.The two countries signed a Russian-brokered agreement on Nov. 10 to end fighting and work toward a comprehensive resolution. The truce is seen as a victory for Azerbaijan and a defeat for Armenia, whose armed forces have been withdrawing in line with the agreement.
