Islamabad/ Pakistan : 01 March 2022 – Ukrainian Ambassador Mr Markiian Chuchuk is hopeful that Pakistan as important trade partner of Ukraine will condemn the Russian invasion to waging a large scale war on Ukraine. He expressed confidence that Pakistan will take solid steps to stop the Russian aggression.
The envoy shared that Russian military is targeting civilians’ infrastructures including kindergartens, orphanages, hospitals, mobile medical vehicles, residential buildings and territories. He said Ukraine has moved International court of justice on Russian war crimes against humanity. The ambassador shared the pictorial evidence of residential buildings and houses destroyed by Russian bombings.

He was addressing to Pakistani media at a press conference held at the embassy on 01 March 2022. It was very well attended press conference that depicts how much importance Pakistani media attaches to peace and safety of Ukraine.
Ambassador noted that Ukraine exported 1.3 Million ton wheat to Pakistan last year for food security. He spoke highly about bilateral relations of Ukraine and Pakistan.
He recalled Pakistani support in evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Afghanistan in Aug last year. The envoy assured that Ukraine government is extending full cooperation to evacuate Pakistani citizens and students safely from Ukraine to Poland and other nearby safe destinations.
“Our staff and volunteers are present at border areas to help with food and other necessities,” Mr Chuchuk said.
“.5 Million people have been displaced to become IDPs so far due to Russian invasion. The number can increase up to 5 Million if the invasion continues,” He shared the situation.
The Ambassador, commenting on world geo-political state, noted :
” Ukraine is not fighting with Russia only for herself. Ukraine is fighting for whole Europe. World community is supposed to respond properly to Russian aggression and invasion. Solid International Response is need of the hour. Indifference or Neutrality will serve Russian designs only.”
Mr. Chuchuk said ” Ukraine does not want war. Ukraine is peace loving country. But we will defend our homeland against the invasion. Russia is hitting every nook and corner of Ukraine with Balistic, Cruise Missiles and Vacuum Bombs but our determination to thwart the aggression is stronger than any destructive weapon of Russia.”
