Bukhara and Multan declared Sister Cities – Chief Minister Punjab and Governor Botir Zaripov Discuss Promotion of Sufism

TASHKENT:Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab province of Pakistan, Mr. Mohsin Naqvi visited Republic of Uzbekistan on 7-8 Aug 2023. He went to Capital city Tashkent, cultural and historical city Samarkand and Bukhara. In Bukhara , he met with Governor Botir Zaripov. Both officials agreed to declare Bukhara and Multan as sister cities.
Chief Minister said that Sufism is our common heritage and declaring Bukhara and Multan as sister cities will promote Sufism and religious tourism between two countries.
He said, “Pakistan and Uzbekistan are bound by historical, religious and cultural ties. Uzbekistan has stabilized its economy by carrying out revolutionary reforms in the agricultural sector. Pakistan, especially Punjab, will benefit from Uzbekistan’s agricultural revolution initiatives. Punjab-Uzbekistan joint committee will take immediate steps for agricultural cooperation. Governor assured full cooperation to the visiting dignitary.
Caretaker CM visited the shrine of Imam Bukhari in Samarkand and offered special prayers for the integrity, stability, peace, development and prosperity of Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi and the delegation visited Imam Bukhari’s memorial complex and observed the renovation work. Mohsin Naqvi said that Imam Bukhari and others Sophia and scholars of Uzbekistan and Pakistan are a common asset. It was heartening to see the architecture of the complex. He appreciated the Uzbek style of architecture and expressed interest in the beautiful tiles.
