Note: COMSATS is one of the few most recognized Universities in the Public sector but the observations in this article tell the total different story. One can imagine what will be the situation in Private universities. The author is student of the COMSATS university, therefore his comment can not be ignored altogether. As I have taken some classes in Foundation University again another one of the few highly wanted universities , and I know the state of education there as well, I am publishing this article only because I agree with most of what the student has penned down. If COMSATS intends to share their point of view, we will definitely publish that – Tazeen Akhtar Editor)

At the time I am writing this article, I have just entered the gate of COMSATS University Islamabad. And I am sitting in a lawn in front of the university mosque. If you ask me how is the university environment? or what are you feeling in your surroundings? My answer will be ” I am at a place where students are not students but models only who have nothing to do educational or research oriented but to exhibit their new fashion clothes and costly mobiles only. They will be seen more in the lawns having gossip or in the canteen enjoying junk food that is symbol of modernism in our youth.
Have you ever noticed that after getting degrees in Pakistan educated people have no skills except a piece of paper.Let us separate the lies from the truth.
Pakistan has a self-organized education system. In which the cost of getting an educational degree is more valuable than a mother’s jewelry and family property.
In childhood the student is told about the lure of big positions after getting an education instead of the importance of education. Apart from this, the achievements of the Muslim scientists of the past on science and technology are explained to the students.
As soon as they reach the 10th grade, they are put behind the trends in specific fields like pre-medical & pre-engineering. After matriculation a student joins a college with the intention of clearing the NMDCAT (National Medical and Dental College Admission Test) to become a great doctor and lead a luxurious life.
Those who qualify the test get admission in medical colleges and start writing “Dr…” before doing MBBS with their name proudly. And similarly, after being called MBBS, their dreams come true and take up a profession.
Others are those students who take admission in different universities of the country to do BS in the hope that after doing BS from the university they have to do something new in science and technology.
Where federal universities are generally considered to be leading in education and especially in research. But the reality is different. 99.9% of university PhD lecturers practice dishonesty, cheating, causing students mental stress instead of teaching them practical academic skills.
In the reputed universities of Islamabad, students are getting their degrees under compulsion. No one is going to ask these Ph.D.s. The Voice Chancellor (VC) and Head of the Department (Dean) of the University are fictitious characters. Their presence in the offices does not mean anything to the student’s welfare.

Take the example of COMSATS University Islamabad. PhD lecturers in COMSATS University Islamabad if they are not performing their duties properly and are dealing with the students with cheating, malicious, dishonesty. So it makes no sense for all the students of the class to give an application to the HOD or any other university official against that teacher.
If you are a student and you have a problem with a PhD lecturer, even if you are a female student and unfortunately you are facing harassment from a PhD teacher, you will give an application to a university officer so that the concerned lecturer will know and as a result your paper will fail. It is up to the concerned lecturer how often he punishes you.
PhD lecturers want their students to keep humming back and forth to succeed in becoming an image in their eyes. A university PhD lecturer does this because he has countless tricks to make you fail in the subject. On the day of the exams, the lectures given by the PhD lecturers are embarrassed by the question papers.
The federal universities of Pakistan which claim that we are at the forefront of research have no sign of practical research. Then we do not have any doubts about other small provincial universities of Pakistan.
We are always hearing this from people, senior students and PhD lecturers in university that “Teacher in university don’t teach you anything, whatever you want to study, read by yourself, Google or Chegg, YouTube.” So my question is why do we need to go to university? Then why are PhDs being conducted on the money of the students in the university?
And sadly, university PhDs consider themselves to be teaching students for free. I am talking about the expensive universities of Islamabad, in which the middle class can hardly get admission, the rest of the upper class children do not get a chance to learn anything from these universities even after paying millions of fees.
In short most of the young people who study and complete their degrees in these most expensive universities live in stress, sleepless nights, suffer from tension, lack stamina and thus these institutions are destroying these God-given abilities with the help of which nations can move forward.
After obtaining the degrees, there are postings on political and nepotism grounds. Then in this way our national institutions are destroyed due to the product produced by our universities.

The State of Affairs @ Higher Education Commission of Pakistan -by- Dr Yousaf Almagirian

The increase in the number of private educational, medical, industrial institutions and the deterioration of government institutions is being seen.
“Public trust in government institutions decides the fate of a nation.”
Educational institutions in developed countries consider their students as their assets. While universities in Pakistan focus on business and use students as fuel.
Pakistani students sometimes sacrifice their lives to get a piece of paper (degree).
Pakistan is an agricultural country which has no sense of agricultural education. And the rapid growth of housing societies are also destroying the cultivable areas. On the other hand, the people must first replace political consciousness with educational consciousness. As I mentioned earlier that here school students are given and taught only two options: “Medical” and “Engineering”. It seems as if apart from these two fields there is a dearth of academicians in Pakistan.
On the other hand, there are barriers of class and privilege. Which has to be removed. Due to the lack of quality education, there is a lack of moral, spiritual and intellectual enlightenment. Institutions are in desperate need of people who are dedicated to ethics, sincerity, service, positive behavior, and the spirit of humanity. May Allah bless Pakistan.
