ISLAMABAD: 06 March 2024 -The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine condemns the occupation government’s prevention of the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, especially to its north, and demands the opening of all crossings to enter aid.
The Ministry believes that Israel’s focus on granting approvals to open sea lanes and preventing the passage of aid overland through the crossings is aimed at implementing the occupation government’s plan to perpetuate the occupation, separate the West Bank from the Gaza Strip, and displace our people.
The United States distributed a draft of a new UN Security Council resolution, endorsing “an immediate ceasefire for approximately six weeks in Gaza with the release of all Israeli prisoners.”

A diplomatic source at the United Nations confirmed that the third review of the text of the resolution “unambiguously supports international diplomatic efforts to conclude and begin implementing an immediate ceasefire agreement for approximately six weeks in Gaza, with the release of all detainees once the parties agree.”
Previous drafts of the US resolution called for a “temporary ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible,” which did not meet the desires of most other Security Council members who were calling for an immediate ceasefire.
In this latest draft, the United States affirmed its support for a “temporary ceasefire” in order to “intensify diplomatic and other efforts aimed at creating conditions for a sustainable cessation of hostilities and lasting peace as called for in Resolution 2720.”
For the resolution to succeed, it needs at least nine affirmative votes and no veto by any of the permanent members, such as the United States, France, Britain, Russia or China.
Washington said it plans to allow time for negotiations on its latest draft and will not rush to call a vote, according to the diplomatic source.
