Pakistan Belarus Discuss Cooperation in Agri Machinery, Banking, Textile, Surgical Instruments Trade

Islamabad: 30 April 2024 – Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Metilisa met with the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema today. Matters of mutual interest were discussed, including the ambitions of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) during its sixth session to be held in Minsk, Belarus in January 2023.
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema extended a warm welcome to the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus and highlighted that Pakistan and Belarus have cordial and friendly relations and are determined to further strengthen bilateral relations in the future.
He appreciated the successful sixth session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission, which discussed the promotion of further cooperation in trade, agriculture, health, science and technology, tourism and investment in the industrial sector.

Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Matilissa expressed keen interest in further developing bilateral relations and stressed that trade between the two countries is far below capacity and should be facilitated through government-to-government and business-to-business interactions, trade exhibitions and there is a need for a coordinated promotion of the banking system.
Federal Minister Cheema informed about Pakistan’s ability to use agricultural machinery, including tractors and harvesters, especially through joint ventures with Pakistani firms and emphasized on coordination with the Pakistani market. He also appreciated the approach of the Government of Pakistan regarding the promotion of trade as well as the development of agriculture.
The Federal Minister while apprising Ambassador Metilisa about Pakistan’s ability to export textiles, agricultural products and surgical instruments to Belarus said that the Government of Pakistan has utilized the expertise of Belarus for joint ventures in heavy machinery and plants.
He highlighted the forum of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission and emphasized on the promotion of economic cooperation between the two countries. The meeting ended with words of thanks from both sides.
