International Parliamentarians Congress Keen to Take Delegation of Observes to Romania in Next Election

ISLAMABAD: International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC) has invited the Parliament of Romania for membership of the association to share the experiences and initiate bilateral cooperation between the parliaments of two friendly countries. A delegation of IPC may visit Romania to observe the next election there.
This was stated by General Secretary IPC Ms Sitarah Ayaaz in her meeting with Ambassador of Romania , H.E Eduard Robert PREDA who visited the headquarters of (IPA) in Islamabad. General Secretary IPC Ms Sitarah Ayaaz received the Ambassador warmly at her office and apprised him of the composition and working of the association.
The meeting was coordinated by Pak Romania Friendship Association. Chairman Zaildar Ahsan Shah and other members of the association were also present.
IPC is a transcontinental platform of individual members of national Parliaments across the globe united in purpose to jointly resolve global and regional issues that invariably impact the whole humanity. Constituted through a Resolution adopted by the Senate of Pakistan on 29th August, 2019 to bring together parliamentarians of different countries to achieve peace, prosperity and progress through cooperation, mutual understanding, sharing and exchange of ideas as well as experiences.
Ms Sitarah Ayaaz briefed the Ambassador about the membership of the Congress. Presently more than 200 international parliamentarians are members of this org. The membership is on individual basis. It is not as for the whole Parliament. She invited parliamentarians of Romania to join the Congress.
Ambassador shed light on the parliamentary system in Romania. He took keen interest in the working of IPC and asked questions in this regard. He appreciated the initiation of this plat form by Pakistani parliamentarians and maintaining its head office in Islamabad.
H.E PREDA assured that he would share the information and the invitation to join the organization to the parliamentarians of his country through proper channels.

Romania Eager to Promote Bilateral Relations, Cooperation within EU-Pakistan framework, Multilateral Formats

Both sides discussed elections in their countries with focus on how the sides do their best to make the electoral process as transparent as possible.
Ms Sitarah Ayaaz shared that some stake holders demand use of Electronic Voting Machines but they are not a guarantee of transparency as the results may still be changed. The voters’ feel inconvenience practicing their right of opinion through EVMs. Mr. PREDA was convinced that every voter desires complete satisfaction about his/her vote and it is in the manual polling only.
Ms Sitarah Ayaaz expressed her willingness to lead a delegation of IPC as observers in the next election in Romania. Mr. PREDA welcomed and offered his cooperation in this regard. Both sides agreed to continue interactions in the future.
