Islamabad: 9 May, 2024 – H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House today.
Welcoming the Qatari dignitary and his delegation, the Prime Minister said Pakistan greatly valued its historic, cordial and fraternal relationship with Qatar. Both countries had always supported each other through thick and thin.
He said Pakistan was keen to transform its excellent ties with Qatar into a mutually beneficial robust economic partnership.
In this regard, the Prime Minister stressed that the two countries should continue to work together to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all spheres of mutual interest, especially in trade and investment.
The Prime Minister highlighted the important role of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and said Pakistan would like to see Qatar expand its investment portfolio in Pakistan in priority sectors. To this end, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) would be able to ensure swift coordination.
The Prime Minister conveyed his warm wishes and greetings for the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister & Foreign Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrehman bin Jassim Al Thani.
The Qatari Minister of State thanked the Prime Minister for receiving him and conveyed a special message of the leadership of Qatar to him, emphasizing Qatar’s desire to strengthen the enduring bonds of brotherhood with Pakistan as well as its keen interest in investing in Pakistan.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs is on a one-day visit to Pakistan as a special envoy of the Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar.
Meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar
Today, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi accompanied by senior delegates from the Qatar Investment Authority.
The two sides reviewed Pakistan-Qatar bilateral relations and trade and investment ties with particular focus on cooperation in sectors including energy, mining and aviation.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments especially the dire situation in Gaza. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister admired Qatar’s active role as a mediator with regard to the Palestine Israel conflict and emphasized that peace in the region could only be ensured through the establishment of a viable, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The Minister of State conveyed message from the Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, His Highness Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, reiterating steadfast support for Pakistan.
