Pakistan Keen to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation with Morocco -Fakhar Imam

Senior Parliamentarian, Former Speaker National Assembly, Chairman Kashmir Committee Syed Fakhar Imam has said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Kingdom of Morocco. Both countries have common faith, values and keep similar stance on international level. Pakistan is keen to enhance its political, commercial and economic cooperation with this brotherly country.

He was addressing to the participants of a grand reception hosted by Ambassador of Morocco H.E Mohamed Karmoune and his spouse Mrs Karmoune to mark the 20th anniversary of accession to the throne of His Majesty King Mohammed VI at Serena Hotel Islamabad on Tuesday 30th July 2019. Honorary Consul General of Morocco in Karachi, renowned industrialist and business man Mirza Ishtiaq Baig was also present along with the Ambassador to welcome the guests from different walks of life.

Syed Fakhar Imam was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Federal Minister Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry,  former Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Tariq Banuri, Executive Director Comsats Dr SM Junaid Zaidi, Senator Talha Mahmood, Senator Sitara Ayaz, other parliamentarians, officials from foreign office, civil military side, business community, civil society and senior media persons were also present.

Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov, Dean of African Envoys High Commissioner of Kenya Professor Julius Bitok, Ambassador of Egypt Ahmed Fadel Yakoub, Ambassador of Libya Nizar A Nabiha, Ambassadors of other African and Arab countries, Envoys from Asia, Europe, Americas also graced the event with their presence.

Syed Fakhar Imam congratulated the ambassador, his wife and Moroccan nationals on the occasion. He said that under the leadership of King Mohammed VI relations between the two countries have strengthened.At present the volume of bilateral trade between both the countries is around $15 million and Pakistan would like to increase its exports in the coming years.He said both the countries needed to further explore ties in trade and education sector. “We need to set up two or three universities of international standards to equip our coming generations with modern art and technology.

Recalling his visit to Morocco, Syed Fakhar Imam shared his pleasant experience saying three months ago I was leading a parliamentary delegation to Morocco and was greatly impressed by love and hospitality extended to our delegation by the Moroccan government and the people.

Ambassador Karmoune , in his welcome address, thanked the guests and said Morocco valued its ties with Pakistan and in the days to come people-to-people and government-to-government contacts would further grow.Pakistan – Morocco Joint Business Council has been facilitating the business community of both the countries to expand trade and business activities on both sides. Morocco attracts over 10 million tourists annually which developed the local hospitality industry. He offered Moroccan support to Pakistan in developing its tourist industry by sharing their experiences and expertise.

Traditional Moroccan food was served in the reception that was found very delicious by the guests.
