Pakistani DPM/FM have Meetings with Political Parties of Bangladesh including BNP in Dhaka

    DHAKA : 23 Aug 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @IshaqDar50, met with a delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by its Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere.

    The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Bangladesh on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit. Regional cooperation featured prominently in the discussions, during which Bangladesh’s foundational role in establishing SAARC was fondly acknowledged. The leaders also reflected on past high-level interactions between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

    received a delegation of National Citizen Party (NCP), led by Mr Akhtar Hossain. During the discussion, DPM/FM appreciated the NCP leadership’s vision for reform and social justice. He emphasised the need for greater interaction between the youth of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

    A delegation of Jamaat e Islami also called on Mr. Dar. The delegation was led by Dr Abdullah Mohammad , Naib Ameer. Pakistani DPM asked the well being of Ameer Dr Shafeeq ur Rehman who is out of sorts.

    For their part, the delegation members apprised the DPM/FM of different facets of countrywide political mobilisation in 2024. The two sides also discussed possibilities to promote cultural exchanges between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the days ahead.

    Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50, attended a reception, hosted in his honour by the High Commissioner for Pakistan to Bangladesh, Mr Imran Haider. At the reception , the DPM/FM interacted with a number of personalities from different walks of life including Advisers of the Bangladeshi government, bureaucrats, leadership of political parties, vice chancellors, members of intelligentsia and think tanks, sportsmen, artists, journalists, retired generals and others. Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, also attended the reception.

    In his remarks at the reception, the DPM/FM underscored that the people of Pakistan had fraternal sentiments towards the people of Bangladesh. He noted that the relations between the two countries were anchored in centuries-old shared traditions, Islamic heritage, social norms and literary expressions.

    Wishing the people of Bangladesh a harmonious and prosperous future, he expressed Pakistan’s strong desire to forge a cooperative and forward looking relationship with Bangladesh.
