Pakistan Indonesia to establish the Joint Trade Committee for Promotion of Cooperation

Karachi : Pakistan and Indonesia on Friday reinforced their economic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Indonesia–Pakistan Joint Trade Committee (JTC). The agreement creates a formal mechanism to strengthen trade dialogue, promote cooperation, and jointly address opportunities and challenges in bilateral trade.
The MoU was signed following productive high-level discussions held on January 9, 2026, between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and the visiting Indonesian Vice Minister of Trade, Ms. Dyah Roro Esty Widya Putri, underscoring the shared commitment of both countries to deepening economic engagement.
Both sides also agreed to collaborate on expanding the existing Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), with a common objective of moving toward a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to unlock enhanced trade and investment prospects.
Attended a dinner graciously hosted by Uncle Bashir Janmohammad and Rasheed Janmohammad in honour of foreign delegates participating in the Palm Oil Conference.
The evening was graced by Chief Guest H.E. Mrs. Dyah Raro Esti Widya Putri, Vice Minister of Indonesia.
Also present Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan H.E Chandra W. Sukotjo.
On the sidelines, both sides held high-level talks, reaffirming their commitment to stronger economic ties. Pakistan highlighted Indonesia’s strategic role within ASEAN, proposed a Pakistan Single-Country Exhibition and Business Forum in Jakarta, and sought facilitation in minerals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and agri-exports.
The engagement concluded with the signing of an MoU establishing “Pakistan–Indonesia Joint Trade Committee” to enhance bilateral trade cooperation.
