CENTRAL ASIA MONITORING DESK ISLAMABAD President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at an award ceremony for scientists in Astana, where he emphasized the need for the systematic promotion of the spiritual and intellectual legacy of the great thinkers – Abai Kunanbayuly, Al-Farabi, and Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.
The President stressed that their ideas constitute an integral part of the world’s cultural and philosophical heritage and remain relevant in modern conditions.
“We are rightfully proud of our intellectual heritage. Outstanding thinkers Al-Farabi, Ahmed Yasawi, and Abai left behind an inexhaustible spiritual wealth. Their ideas have rightfully entered the golden fund of human civilization,” He noted.
President said, It is important for us to actualize the invaluable works of our wise ancestors in the context of modern realities. We must rethink, widely promote, and comprehensively develop the ideas of our scholars. It is important to give new impetus to the work on promoting the legacy of the great enlighteners.
The Head of State highlighted that an important step in this direction was the establishment in Kazakhstan of the Order of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. In continuation of this initiative, the President proposed instituting a new state Order named after Al-Farabi.
Particular attention is also being paid to international cooperation in this area. During the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Islamabad on February 3-4 of this year, three scientific and academic centers were established in the capital of Pakistan:
the Al-Farabi Center at Quaid-i-Azam University, the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Center at the International Islamic University, and the K.Satbayev Center for Science and Technology at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
In this context, Kazakhstan will continue to expand cooperation with Pakistan through these scientific and academic centers and will promote the legacy of the great Kazakh thinkers and philosophers.
