The observers in Pakistan noted with dissatisfaction that Pakistan flag was hoisted or placed no where in any meeting during this high level Pakistani visit. That is being taken as non diplomatic gesture of Afghan Government.

Earlier on 08 June 2020 the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad met Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed the peace process in Afghanistan, the military said Sunday night.

Khalilzad began his multi-nation visit from Pakistan that will also take him to Afghanistan and Qatar for talks with the Taliban, according to the State Department.

An army statement said the US envoy and the Pakistan army chief discussed the overall regional security situation including Afghan refugees issue, Afghan reconciliation process and Pak-Afghan border management.

“Both shared steps taken in this regard and agreed to continue working towards mutually agreed goals,” the statement from the army’s media wing the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
