Ukraine-Pakistan Sign Deal for Repair of T-80 UD Tank Fleet

“Although the closure of borders, which occurred last year due to the global pandemic, has taught us to work effectively online, Ukraine’s participation in one of the largest weapons exhibitions taking place offline is difficult to overestimate,” said Vadym Nozdria, Ceo of Ukrspecexport, commenting on the progress of the exhibition, which is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates.

He also said that within the framework of IDEX-2021, a contract was concluded between the SC “Ukrspecexport” and Pakistan for the repair of the T-80UD tank fleet for a total amount of USD 85.6 million. “This is the first contract of Ukrspecexport, which is one of the most systematic and effective special exporters of the SC “UkrOboronProm”, with Pakistan this year,” Nozdria said. The issues of expanding cooperation and implementation of new projects by the end of 2021 were also discussed with the Pakistani side.

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation has already held a number of negotiations with the delegations of the UAE, Jordan and Saudi Arabia and has reached agreements on cooperation in the areas of high-precision weapons and armored vehicles, unmanned platforms, engine repair, etc. This was announced by Director General of ukroboronprom Yuriy Husiev.

“We have every reason to predict that in 2021 we will not only retain our positions in our basic markets, but also enter new ones with new products. The Ukrainian military-industrial complex gives us this opportunity. Therefore, we plan new foreign economic contracts and expect a significant increase in supply volumes to foreign markets, and therefore an increase in deductions to the state budget,” commented Nozdria on the first results of Ukraine’s participation in IDEX-2021.

As reported, on February 21, the ABU DHABI International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX-2021) was launched in Abu Dhabi (UAE), which will last until February 25.

IDEX-2021 is one of the largest military international exhibitions held under the auspices of the President of the United Arab Emirates. More than 900 leading defense companies from 59 countries will present their expositions in the pavilions of the National Exhibition Center in Abu Dhabi. Ukraine is represented by nine defense enterprises, seven of which are part of the State Concern “UkrOboronProm”, including the SC “Ukrspecexport”. At the same time, the state-owned company Ukrspecexport is the organizer of the joint exposition of ukroboronprom. The Ukrainian delegation is headed by Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Urusky.
