The most horrific massacre seen by mankind in recent years is the Khojaly genocide. This event is a grave crime against mankind and humanity. It is necessary for the whole world to be aware of what happened in Khojaly so that such terrible events do not happen again.

Therefore, it is not right to treat the Khojaly genocide only as a massacre against Azerbaijanis by Armenians. The Khojaly genocide is a crime against all humanity, and the whole world must give it a legal and political assessment.

This act of genocide was also covered by the world’s influential media at that time.

The Washington Post, March 2, 1992:

“About 1,000 out of 10,000 Khojaly residents were massacred by the Armenian Army in Tuesday’s attack.

The New York Times, March 3, 1992:

“Today, new evidence has been obtained about the genocide committed by Armenian servicemen against Azerbaijani civilians in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Women and children had been scalped”. Near Aghdam, a Reuters photographer, Frederique Lengaigne, said she had seen two trucks filled with Azerbaijani bodies. “Some were beheaded, and many were burned…”

The Sunday Times, March 1, 1992:

“…Armenian soldiers opened fire on Azerbaijanis and bayoneted them. Most of them were children and women. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, are missing and dead. The invaders killed soldiers and volunteers defending women and children”.

The Times, March 2, 1992:

“Anatoly Liven was shot while collecting information about a massacre committed by Armenian troops. As we descended the snow-capped mountains of Nagorno-Karabakh, we saw scattered corpses. Apparently, the refugees were shot while fleeing….. When we returned to Aghdam, we looked at the corpses collected by a civilian helicopter. Two old men and a little girl were covered in blood, and their hands and feet were frozen”.

These are the reports of the world’s leading media on the genocide at that time.

As a result of the Khojaly genocide, 613 Khojaly residents, including 63 children, 106 women, 70 elderly people, were killed, 8 families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents and 130 children lost one parent. 487 people, 76 of them children, were wounded by enemy bullets. 1275 people were taken prisoner.

The fate of 150 captives, including 68 women and 26 children, is still unknown. Former Armenian Presidents Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan commanded the Armenian armed forces carrying out all this vandalism.

And, unfortunately, they are still unpunished. We hope that this crime against humanity will not be repeated. Therefore, we call on our colleagues around the world to pay more attention to this act of genocide and support the establishment of justice …
