Pakistan Air Force detected suspicious projectile that took flight from India into Pakistan and was destroyed after drop in Pakistan. Only few days ago, Pakistan Navy had detected an Indian Submarine in Pakistani waters that was warned to run away. Both incidents occurred only after few days of celebration of Operation Swift Retort of Pakistan Air Force in which Indian Surgical Strike attempt was thwarted in a befitting manner by Pakistan Air Force on 27 Feb 2019.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Babar Iftikhar said on Thursday that Indian supersonic missile hits inside Pakistan territory near Mian Channu in Khanewal district of Punjab. It was most probably a missile but unarmed.
Addressing a press conference on 10 March, he said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) monitored the object thoroughly. “As a responsible nation, we did no provocation. Our investigations are underway to ascertain whether it was missile or something else. It covered the distance of 260 kilometers at an altitude of 40,000 feet. The object coming from India was supersonic,” he said.
He stated that this projectile could be dangerous for domestic flights as well as civilian property on the ground. He stated that India must explain this issue.
Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said that all information has been given to the Foreign Office and the issue would be raised at the international level.
Air Vice Marshal Tariq Zia gave a presentation to the media in the press conference about where the projectile took start, its flight path into Pakistan and drop in above mentioned site. He said that Pakistan Air Force took notice of this projectile as soon as it started flight from within India. This clearly expresses the high alertness of Pakistan Air Force.
