ALGERIA WEEK IN PAKISTAN – Islamabad Chamber of Commerce to Celebrate in August to Boost Bilateral Trade Ties

ISLAMABAD: 18 June 2025 – The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) will celebrate “Algeria Week” in August 2025 to highlight Algeria’s trade and investment potential along with its rich culture and heritage.

This was announced by ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi during a meeting with the Ambassador of Algeria, H.E. Brahim Romani, who visited the Chamber to explore avenues for strengthening economic cooperation.

Ambassador Brahim Romani expressed strong interest in building robust trade and economic ties between Algeria and Pakistan, pointing out the vast untapped potential for cooperation in diverse sectors.

He announced that the Algerian Embassy will organize an “Algerian Cuisine Day” in July at ICCI to showcase traditional Algerian food and fruits to the Pakistani community. He also extended an invitation to ICCI to participate actively in the upcoming Enter Africa Trade Fair 2025, scheduled for September, to connect with African businesses.

The Ambassador noted that Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize Algeria after its independence and emphasized that it is now time to convert this goodwill into a strong economic partnership.

He said Algeria offers strategic access to African markets and urged Pakistani investors and exporters to view Algeria as a gateway to North Africa. He highlighted key sectors for collaboration including energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and construction.

ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi welcomed the Ambassador and said that Pakistan’s “Look Africa Policy” is a strategic initiative to enhance engagement with the African continent. He said Algeria, as a major economy in Africa and a founding member of the African Union, plays a vital role in this policy.

He emphasized that Algeria could serve as a key entry point for Pakistani businesses into African markets. He invited Algerian investors to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones, especially under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

He said ICCI will host Algeria Week in August to showcase Algeria’s economic strengths, investment prospects, and cultural heritage. He identified sectors such as renewable energy, halal food processing, agro-industries, and construction materials as high-potential areas for bilateral cooperation.

He added that ICCI is ready to offer services such as business matchmaking, market research, and policy advocacy to support trade development. He also proposed signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Algerian chambers to institutionalize cooperation and ensure continuity of efforts.

Former ICCI President Mian Shaukat Masood, Executive Member Ms. Shumaila Siddiqui, and Advisor to ICCI President Naeem Siddiqui also spoke on the occasion and emphasized the scope for building strong trade links between the two countries.

Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry, Executive Members Irfan Chaudhry, Waseem Chaudhry, Imran Minhas, Naveed Satti, and Malik Mohsin Khalid were also present and expressed their full support for deepening bilateral cooperation.
