AZERBAIJAN FACING PROBLEMS IN DE-MINING, ARMENIA NOT SHARING MAPS – 150 CITIZENS AFFECTED -PRESIDENT ILHAM @CIS SUMMIT

Islamabad; Monitoring Desk – President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed at a session of the Council of the CIS Heads of State in the format of a video conference. He said the main problems facing Azerbaijan now are the de-mining of the liberated territories and the restoration of the destroyed infrastructure – buildings, houses, historical monuments of the Azerbaijani people.

Report informs that, according to the head of state, the head of state noted that after the end of the war, more than 150 Azerbaijani citizens were killed or seriously injured by detonated landmines.

“Armenia refuses to provide us with full maps of minefields. A small number of such maps handed over to Azerbaijan is about 25% accurate,” the head of state added.

“Almost all buildings and historical monuments in the liberated territories have been destroyed over the almost 30 years of occupation. Of the 67 mosques in the liberated territories, 65 were destroyed; while in the remaining two mosques, the occupants kept pigs and cows, deliberately insulting the feelings of Muslims.

“100% of buildings and houses were destroyed in the city of Fizuli and all villages of the Fizuli region. The same is observed in Aghdam and the Aghdam district. Aghdam is named the ‘Hiroshima of the Caucasus.’

“Only two buildings that housed service members of the Armenian armed forces remain intact in the Jabrayil region,” President Ilham Aliyev said.

“A year has passed since the end of the war and Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War. The post-war situation remains generally calm,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been left in the past. Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity, fulfilled the UN Security Council resolutions. Azerbaijan resolved the conflict with Armenia by military-political means,” the head of state said.

He reminded that on November 10 last year, the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia signed a trilateral statement that ended hostilities between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

President Ilham Aliyev also highlighted the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in ending hostilities, which made it possible to avoid heavy losses on both sides.
