AZERBAIJAN VICTORY DAY – A MEMORABLE EXPRESSION OF TRILATERAL UNITY AGAINST AGGRESSION

Azerbaijan proudly celebrated 08 Nov 2021 as Victory Day. The Victory that was won by sacrificing more than 3000 lives of soldiers and civilians who all were sons and daughters of the soil. They stood against Armenian aggression and made an example for the rest of the world especially for the countries whose territories are still under occupation and they are looking here and there for their liberation. Azerbaijan forces with the solidarity of their people thwarted the Armenian attacks and took their occupied lands back during 44 days long second Karabakh War.

Armenians started attacks on 27 Sep 2020 that were responded by Azerbaijan in befitting manner. Following the capture of Shusha, the second-largest city in Nagorno-Karabakh, a ceasefire agreement was signed between the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, ending all hostilities in the area from 00:00, 10 November 2020 Moscow Time.

Embassy of Azerbaijan in Pakistan hosted a magnificent reception in connection with Victory Day at Serena Hotels Islamabad. Mr. & Mrs Khazar Nadir Oglu Farhadov, the Ambassador  and Mr. & Mrs. Mehman Novruslu, the Defence Attache arranged the memorable event with the staff and families. Azerbaijani Children even were active in the reception to celebrate their victory.

It was not merely a reception but actually it was the expression of unity of Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkey against the aggression. Ambassador of Turkey Ehsan Mustafa was also present while video documentaries were screened in which President Ilham and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan were seen standing shoulder by shoulder.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Nadeem Raza was the chief guest. Senior Military leadership from all three wings of Pakistan, Civil officials, representatives of Gov of Pakistan, businessmen and media personalities expressed their solidarity with Azerbaijan by attending the reception. Governor Punjab province Ch Mohammad Sarwer and former Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq were also prominent among the guests.

Ambassador and Defence Attache , in their welcome addresses , shed light on the history of Nagorno-Karabakh dispute and on the details of  instigations of Armenia that imposed war on Azerbaijan in which the valiant forces of Azerbaijan proved equal to the task and taught good lesson to mischievous neighbor that the later will remember for long.

Ambassador noted that there is no place named Nagorno-Karabakh exists after second patriotic war and Karabakh is Azerbaijan now on. He especially recalled the support of Pakistan throughout these difficult 44 days and onward. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s support for Pakistan on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

The participants observed silence in the honor of the martyrs and payed homage to them for their great sacrifice.

A group of artists from Azerbaijan was especially invited to perform in the event. The guests appreciated their performance.
