Islamabad, February 14, 2025 – The Baburi Forum Islamabad, in collaboration with the Embassy of Uzbekistan, successfully hosted the Baburi Conference 2025 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, to commemorate the 542nd birth anniversary of King Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur—the visionary founder of the Mughal Empire.
The conference brought together distinguished scholars, diplomats, and historians to reflect on Babur’s enduring legacy, his contributions to governance, military strategy, literature, and his deep historical connections to both Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, sent a message for the participants expressing his welcome and gratitude to participate in the conference meant to revive the historical bonds between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
He emphasized the shared heritage and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral relations. He appreciated the efforts of Mr. Ramzan Mughal, President of the Baburi Forum Islamabad for remembering Zaheer ud Din Babur continuously every year, thus invigorating the bilateral relations existed deep in the centuries.
Mr. Oybek from the Embassy of Uzbekistan represented the Ambassador. He shed light on mutual ties on G2G and P2P levels. He said , people of both countries have so many commonalities that we look like the same. We can utilize it for enhancing cooperation and collaboration between two countries.
Renowned academics, including Dr. Muhammad Zia ur Rehman (National Defence University, Islamabad) and Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi (International Islamic University, Islamabad), delivered insightful speeches on Babur’s influence on history and leadership.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Ramzan Mughal, expressed gratitude to all attendees and reiterated the importance of preserving Babur’s historical contributions.
“This conference serves as a bridge between the past and present, reminding us of the leadership, resilience, and cultural richness Babur brought to our region,” he remarked.
Mr. Tazeen Akhtar, Editor Pakistan in the World , expert on Uzbekistan, encouraged the young enthusiasts present in the conference for their keenness to learn more about Uzbekistan. He briefly refreshed the thoughts of the participants on close connections between the two countries.
He said , Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Termez are commonly known in Pakistan and all these historical beautiful cities of beautiful people are in Uzbekistan.
About Zaheer ud Din Babur, Mr. Tazeen Akhtar mentioned that he united the sub continent that was dispersed in different small and big states that would mostly fighting with one another. Babur provided a central system of governance that played key role in the development of India.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony marking Babur’s birth anniversary, followed by certificate distributions and shield presentations in recognition of the distinguished guests’ contributions.
Attendees praised the initiative for fostering intellectual discourse and cultural exchange between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The conference successfully reinforced the legacy of Babur, reaffirming the historic bond between the two nations.
