Book Launching Ceremony of Chingiz Aitmatov’s selected stories in Islamabad

Islamabad; On July 6, 2021, A Book Launching Ceremony of Chingiz Aitmatov’s selected stories “Jamila”, “Farewell, Gyulsary” and ” Spotted dog running by the edge of the sea” translated and published into Urdu by the Academy of Literature of Pakistan, at the initiative of the Pakistan was held in Islamabad.

Dr Yousuf Khashk, Chairman of Academy welcomed the guest and shed light on the work of Chingiz Aitmatov. He said that the translation will provide opportunities to Pakistanis for better understanding the Kyrgyz nation and society that is basic thing to bring people closer.

H.E. Mr. Erik Beishembiev, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in his speech noted that the Book Launching Ceremony of Chingiz Aitmatov’s selected stories took place in the year of the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic. He spoke about the main stages of development of the Kyrgyz statehood, informed about the life path and rich literary heritage of Chingiz Aitmatov, whose works were translated into 176 languages.

Former Chairman of Academy and Urdu Language Authority Pakistan, Iftekhar Arif was also present. He appreciated the effort of Embassy of Kyrgyz Republic and Pakistan Academy of Letters.

Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic showed a documentary film about Chingiz Aitmatov and also organized a Photo Exhibition and a performance on a Kyrgyz song.

Selected stories have been translated into Urdu by Munir Fayyaz who also attended the launch and expressed his thoughts about the literature he went through during the translation work.

Dean of Diplomatic Corp, Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and South Korea also graced the event with their presence.

The event was attended by writers, scientists, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the media.
