CM of the Largest Province of Pakistan in Baku to Participate in WUF13 | Meets President of Azerbaijan | Pays Homage to National Leader Heydar Aliyev

    ISLAMABAD : Monitoring Desk – The Chief Minister of Punjab, the largest province of Pakistan, Maryam Nawaz arrives Baku to attend and represent Pakistan in 13th World Urban Forum themed as adequate housing that is environment friendly and climate change resilient.

    She was warmly recieved at Heydar Aliyev airport and later called on President  Ilham Aliyev alongwith her delegation.

    The sides discussed mutual  investment, bilateral relations, and expanded cooperation in economic and development sectors. CM praised strong brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. She espressed good wishes for Azerbaijan’s progress and emphasized strengthening Pakistan–Azerbaijan relations.

    The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan is Jeyhun Bayramov, Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhodove, members of CM’s delegation Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub, Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani and Special Assistant Ali Dar are also accompanying the Chief Minister were also present in the high level meeting.

    World Urban Forum WUF13 Baku on Adequate Housing – by Tazeen Akhtar, Islamabad

    She will will address the forum at Baku Olympic Stadium and share Punjab’s “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” initiative to the participants from around the world. She is launching the Pakistan Pavilion and spotlighting Punjab’s flagship housing initiative, “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar,” to the international community as an example of affordable housing.

    Ealier, Maryam Nawaz began her official engagements in Azerbaijan with a visit to the mausoleum of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the Alley of Martyrsin the capital city of Baku. CM laid flowers at the grave of Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, offered Fateha, paying tribute to the services of the national leaders and ultimate sacrifice of martyrs for the country.

    This visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and showcase Punjab’s development initiatives on a global stage.

    Punjab is Pakistan’s most populous province, home to over 127 million people. It is the country’s agricultural and economic powerhouse, contributing significantly to the national GDP. Centered around the capital and largest city, Lahore, it is a region deeply defined by its five rivers, rich history, and vibrant culture.
