Dien Bien Phu Victory Celebrations of Vietnam Embassy : Invitational Golf Tournament Connects Players of Different Countries

    On the occasion of Dien Bien Phu Victory, 30 April Re-unification day of Socialist Republic of Vietnam , an Invitation Golf Tournament was organized at Garden City Golf Club Phase 7 Bahria Town Islamabad on 04 May 2024 by the Embassy of Vietnam in collaboration with Garden City and Bahria Town. Renown golfers from Pakistan and diplomatic community of Islamabad participated in the tournament.
    H.E Nguyen Tien Phong , Ambassador of Vietnam , staff and spouses hosted the guests at the award distribution ceremony after the tournament. He expressed his gratitude to the Garden City administration for their cooperation. He was thankful to the guests who graced the event with their presence.
    Ambassador Phong shed light on the back ground of Dien Bien Phu Victory and the emergence of a united and strong nation after this achievement. Vietnam won the Dien Bien Phu battle 70 years ago, forcing the French government to sign the Geneva Agreement in July 1954 and marking the end of the French military presence in the Indochina.The historic victory echoes vividly these days as the nation is celebrating 70 years of the heroic fighting which was chalked up by patriotism, thirst for independence, great leadership, and international support.
    A photo exhibition was also part of the event in which different scenes of the war for reunification of Vietnam led by President Ho Chi Minh were displayed along with detail description to give the visitor basic information about the victory , why it was planned, how the war was fought and why the reunification of Vietnam was necessary for which Dien Bien Phu was conceived by the leader of the nations.
    Dean of Diplomatic Corp, Ambassador Turkmenistan, H.E Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador Morocco H.E Mohamed Karmoune, Ambassador of Myanmar Mr. Aung, High Commissioner of Bangla Desh H.E Md. Ruhul Alam Siddique , DHM of Indonesia Mr. Rehmat, Secretary Garden City Golf Club Brig R Saeed Zafar Dar and Director Media Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority Imran Ghaznavi were also present at the occasion. New designated Ambassador of Pakistan to Vietnam Mr. Kohi Marri and former ambassadors also attended the event.
    After day long games the players and the guests had delicious lunch with Vietnamese dishes that included Pho Viet that is beef pho and chicken pho typical distinctions of Thang Long – Ha Naoi culinary culture. Vietnamese green tea and coffee were also served.
    Award ceremony started soon after the lunch in which trophies were presented to the position holders.In women category, Ami Qin won the winner trophy while Shamshad Ara Reema (Spouse of Bengal Desh High Commissioner) won second runner up and Maliha Elhai first runner up trophies.
    In Invitation Category Net ,Air Marshal Amir Masood remained first runner up while Samir Khan was the winner.
    In invitational Category Gross, Admiral R Asif Sindhila was first runner up while Brig R Mohammad Jahanzaib Iftekhar was winner.
    Longest Drive and Closest to Pin winner was Akram Nisar with 284 yards, Closest to pin winner was Fakhr ud Din Razi 74 inches.
    In Main Category Gross, Rene Naraq second and Aqeel Abbasi stood first runner up while Majeed Butt was the winner.
    In Main Category Net, Robert Kajoro second runner up,M. Syofinsur first runner up and Shoaib Ahmad was the winner.
    The visa facilitation agency of Vietnam Crown Travels also cooperated in holding the award ceremony. The Chief Executive Mr. Mubashhar received appreciation letter from the Ambassador for their service.
    H.E Nguyen Tien Phong, Ambassador of Vietnam himself is a fine sportsman who plays golf and other games also. He is playing his constructive and supportive role in promotion of cooperation in sports as well between two countries.
    It was a wonderful activity as the sun was shining and the weather was also very pleasant. Pakistanis hold Vietnam in high esteem for the leadership and the nation of Vietnam did not give in to foreign oppression and stood against all types of suppression and colonialism.
