Direct Flights to Baku, Azerbaijan – PIA Starts Operation from 16 March – Another Milestone Achieved in Connectivity

    In a landmark announcement, PIA has shared the good news of starting direct flights to Baku Azerbaijan from next month after all the attempts to start operation could not be successful due to different reasons including COVID-19 restrictions. Azerbaijan is brotherly country and both the nations love each other from the depths of their hearts. No direct communication has been a big hurdle in people to people to contacts and increase in trade and economic cooperation in the past 3 decades.

    Pakistan International Airlines will start the operation from 16 March 2022 when first flight will take off from Karachi to Baku. Second flight is scheduled from Lahore on 19 March 2022 to Baku. 

    At a news conference on Thursday, a spokesman for the national carrier said two flights to Baku would be operated a week.

    In my meeting with Ambassador Khazar Farhadov few weeks ago, I recommended that direct flight is central in enhancing the bilateral relations. If we have direct approach to Baku, tourist of Pakistan will find another destination to visit and once they will visit the city of Baku has enough to win their hearts like Istanbul.

    The spokesperson of PIA has termed Baku as attractive point for the tourists and said that Baku has emerged as most visited tourist spot in last years. He said that Travellers will now be able to travel directly to the city from Karachi and Lahore with ease.

     PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik congratulated the airline and said that the company plans to add more locations to its network. He directed the PIA officers to provide best services to the passengers.

    Management of “Pakistan in the World” congratulate the citizens of both countries on this opportunity to meet directly. The efforts of the Ambassadors of both countries, H.E Khazar Farhadov and H.E Bilal Hai are highly appreciated to reach this milestone in the journey of bringing both nations closer.

    In Business-to-Business regime, National Logistics Cell accomplished pilot project of traveling through Iran, Turkey to Azerbaijan only a couple of months ago. The trucks of NLC completed the journey successfully in the least possible time period.
