ISLAMABAD: 16 Oct 2025 – Female Ambassadors serving in Islamabad participated in the 18th Annual Rural Women Leadership Training organized by the Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA), in commemoration of the International Day of Rural Women.
They included H.E Mary O’Neill Ambassador of Ireland, H.E Ms. Rita Dhital Ambassador of Nepal, H.E Fatou Harerimana, High Commissioner of Rwanda and H.E Dorsaf Maaroufi Arfaoui Ambassador of Tunisia.
Ambassadors appreciated the work and encouraged the organization. They said , It was a truly enriching experience to share insights with rural women from across Pakistan. It was delightful to celebrate this special occasion alongside fellow female Ambassadors.
Some members of the National Assembly also particiated in the event. They highlighted the pivotal role of women in driving sustainable development and inclusive leadership.
“Together, we continue to champion the empowerment of women and the strengthening of rural communities, the women leaders from different walks of life observed.
Here it is worth mentioning that rural women in Pakistan work shoulder to shoulder with men in the fields. They play their role in all works related to the agriculture or livestock as well as take care of the households. Still they are the least paid or get minimum share in the income from the earnings.
Most of the NGO’s working on the rights of the rural women never send their staff to remote rural areas to get first hand knowledge of the problems of rural women. They hold events in five star hotels of mega cities only and do not have proper work on the ground and at the village level.
