Governor Vows to Restore Soft Image of KP @ Welcome event for Romanian Envoy by Habib Orakzai in Islamabad

Governor KPK , Faisal Kareem Kunddi has said that KP will soon have a soft image of tourism, sports and culture with secure environment there. He has welcomes the diplomatic community to visit Peshawar and be his guest. He welcomed newly appointed Ambassador of Romania H.E Dan Stoenescu.

He was addressing to the guests at a dinner in honor of Ambassador of Romania H.E Dan Stoenescu hosted by President, Pakistan International Human Rights Organization and Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent KP Province , Mr. Habib Orakzai at Islamabad Golf Club on 03 Feb 2024.

Other prominent guests included , H.E. Nicolas Galey, Ambassador of France, H.E. Sebastian Syus, Ambassador of Argentina, H.E. Coho Darevic, Ambassador of Bosnia,Ms Eleni Porichi, Charge d’Affaires, Greece, Mr. Mxolisi Phila Radebe DHM South Africa, Mr. Farid, Country Head, IFRC, Zafar Bakhtawary President UGB Group.

Governor in his keynote address as chief guest at the event shed light on the situation in Kurram and appreciated the role of Red Crescent there. He also praised Mr. Habib’s efforts for restoration of the victims. He said that the situation is improving there but still it is not fully recovered. Food and Medicine is required while sever cold weather is another hardship of the local people.

Governor also shared the difficulties of the labor of Kurram whose big number works abroad but they can not travel back to their jobs due to the prevailing situation in their territory.

Mr. Faisal Kareem Kunddi admired the sacrifices of the Police and Military personnel who are fighting against terrorism in the bordering areas with Afghanistan. He expressed his resolve to bring peace and prosperity in the province.

Governor said , ” We have to develop soft image of our province. For that we are promoting sports, tourism and culture of the province. “

Envoys of Romania, Somalia, Nepal, Japan & Bangladesh present credentials to President Pakistan

Ambassador Dan Stoenescu, in his remarks, appreciated Habib Orakzai for his work on human rights in KP and out of KP. He assured his full cooperation in this regard.
Ambassador shared that Romania and Pakistan are celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations. He said that he was feeling happy and honored to be hosted in such a noble gathering on this occasion.

Mr. Stoenescu spoke highly about bilateral relations and expressed his resolve to take the cooperation to new heights. He said ,” The present level of bilateral trade is about $200 Million while both countries have a potential of $5 Billion. To tap the potential , the business community of both sides should build contacts and the Embassy is ready to extend complete cooperation for that.”

Ambassador proudly shared that Romania has achieved milestones of development in previous decades and now full member of European Union and NATO. He said Romania is advocate of Pakistan in EU. He praised Pakistani community working in Romania for their contribution in the development. He said , in the past, Romanian experts came to Pakistan to construct Karachi Refinery, Cement Factory and Energy infrastructure while now thousands of Pakistanis are contributing in Romania’s prosperity.

The host, Habib Orakzai, in his welcoming address, said, “Pakistan and Romania share a strong history of collaboration and mutual respect, and I am confident that the relationship will continue to grow under H.E Mr. Stoenescu’s leadership.

Habib appreciated Romania’s commitment to human rights and women’s empowerment in Pakistan. He said, “These initiatives are instrumental in fostering a just and equitable society, and I look forward to working closely with you on these critical matters.

He expressed gratitude for the support of the Embassy of Romania in facilitating overseas employment opportunities for Pakistani citizens . He said , ” Many Pakistanis have found promising futures in Romania due to your support and their efforts.”

Habib proposed the establishment of a Pakistan-Europe Friendship Forum and said this platform will strengthen our mutual trust, enhance cultural and economic ties, and create new business opportunities between Europe and Pakistan. Together, we can build bridges that drive economic growth and cultural exchange.

He also extended gratitude to the European Union for continued engagement on human rights support in Pakistan.

He said, “Your support is invaluable as we strive to build a nation that upholds the dignity and rights of all its citizens. With 65% of our population comprising youth, Pakistan’s future is bright. However commitment to sustainable development and positive progress must remain our priority. Pakistan is dedicated to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and I look forward to the continued support of our international partners.”

Celebrating Progress and Commitment to Europe on Romania’s National Day

Habib thanked Governor Faisal Karim Kundi for his unwavering support of the Pakistan Red Crescent’s work in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that Governor’s efforts during the Kurram crisis played a crucial role in restoring peace and providing essential assistance to displaced communities. His dedication to political stability and community welfare is truly commendable.

Mr. Habib Orakzai thanked Dr. Shoaib Suddal for his continuous advocacy for minority rights and his dedication to justice and equality has remarkably advanced the cause of marginalized communities. He appreciated Lieutenant General (R) Zahid Latif for his leadership at NUST University, driving academic excellence and innovation.
Lastly, Habib extended a warm welcome to Madam Farzana Naek on assuming her role as Chairperson of the Pakistan Red Crescent. He said , ” We look forward to her leadership in this critical organization.”
It was a well managed and conducted event that helped people from different walks of life be connected and exchange views on bilateral interests and their relevant areas of work.
