Ambassador of Republic of Yemen to Pakistan, and concurrent to 4 others H.E Mohammed Motahar Alashabi has said that Pakistan and Yemen have broad based relations bonds, mainly, we are very close in Arabian Sea and we have historical bonds of the same religion. It provides conducive environment of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation.
He was talking to Editor Monthly Pakistan in the World Mr. Tazeen Akhtar who called on him at the Embassy on 14 Dec 2021. President National Media Forum Mr. Haji M. Shafiq also accompanied the editor in this meeting. Both sides discussed status of bilateral ties and prospects of turning already existing cordial and close relations into solid economic and trade cooperation.
Ambassador shared his experiences of living in and working with Pakistani authorities. He said Pakistan is just like second home. The people of Pakistan are very friendly, humble and generous. There is no obstacles in enhancing the bilateral cooperation.
He shared that more than 300 students of Yemen are studying in Pakistan. Some of them under the Cultural Exchange program and Pakistan Technical Assistance program which is highly appreciated to Pakistan . Many students have completed their medical education from Pakistan and they are now serving in Yemen. This creates a good impression of Pakistan in Yemen. Educational environment is satisfactory in Pakistan.
To a question, Ambassador replied that Yemen will certainly attend OIC foreign ministers conference in Islamabad. He said that OIC has been working on the situation of Yemen as well to solve the issues with dialogue but Houthi militants are not ready to a negotiated solution. He was optimistic about OIC’s support along with UN efforts to restoration of normalization in his country.
Here it is worth mentioning that Yemen is in crisis since long because of Houthi Militants that are supported by a well known regional power thru finance, weapons including balletic missiles, and media and political support – It is open secret .
They do not hesitate in their revolt against the democratically elected government and show savage aggression towards Yemen people particularly those who oppose and reject their control. They do not hesitate in their attacks on innocent people including IDPs camps, confiscating humanitarian assistance and endanger Yemenis to miserable conditions. They have no mercy towards women, using people as a human shields in their confrontation with government forces and Arabic coalitions. They drag youngsters by force to training camps to fuel their useless war.
Houthis have no intention to go for peace as their regional master’s wish to destabilize the Arabic peninsula from Yemen and threaten the maritime trade in the Red Sea. All efforts by the government of Yemen and UN to convince these militants to sit on negotiating table and solve the difference went in vein so far.
It is quite unfortunate that Houthi militants have no interest at all in dialogue and they never responded to the initiatives for dialogue by neither the government of Yemen not the UN. Therefore Yemenis are suffering for their stubbornness. They are not different than those terrorist groups.
Their exclusive and extremist ideology does not except peace and coexistence except their agenda to dominate Yemen and the region.
They seized the capital of Yemen and the state institutions forcibly.
If they want peace, we are ready to negotiate a peaceful solution that serve the interests of all Yemenis including Houthis. We hope that they come down to the rational thinking and respond to the calls to stop the war they launched against Yemenis in 2014, to put an end for killing of Yemenis and to make the interests of Yemen , its security, and stability as priority to their master priority.
