IIUI’s first semester student translates two books in summer vacations

ISLAMABAD: A female student from the Department of Translation & Interpretation, Faculty of Arabic, International Islamic University, Islamabad has been able to translate two books from Arabic into English during these summer vacations.
These translations have been carried out by Miss Asia Arif (18-year) who is a student of the first semester of BS in Translation & Interpretation in this university. Her first book is titled “A Lad from Quraysh” which is written by an Egyptian scholar Syed Mubarak while the second book contains the English translation of two hundred Arabic proverbs and maxims and titled “Everlasting Wisdom”.
Gold medalist Asia Arif had already authored and translated five other books in Arabic, English, Urdu and Persian during the previous years. A book of her titled “Alarabiyya li kullil Atfal” was published in 2016 in the Sultanate of Oman by an educational institution Al-Isary Group and Asia had been specially invited along with her parents to Oman to inaugurate this book.
Asia had already done two Arabic courses from the universities at very early age. She did her first Arabic language course successfully from the Allama Iqbal Open University at the age of seven and Advance Diploma in Arabic from IIUI at the age of nine.
She has also done Certificate course in Persian from NUML, Islamabad last year. Ambassadors of Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Turkey, Sudan and Saudi Arabia have also honored Asia with certificates and prizes.
Many television channels including Aljazeera, Sky News Arabic, Russia Today and Qatar TV have also aired special reports on Asia Arif.
Expressing her happiness on this occasion she said,”After the publication of these two books, the number of my books will reach seven. I achieved this honor at the age of 18 only due to the guidance of my father who always takes care of my education and upbringing.”
Asia is the only daughter of Dr. Arif Siddiq who is working as Assistant Professor in the International Islamic University, Islamabad.
