An Iranian delegation headed by the Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad late night on 24 April after recieving a call from the dignitary in the day. From US side the same team minus JD Vance will sit on the table and US VP will join only when the sides will reach to agreement. The chief negotiator of Iran Mr. Qalibaf too is not available right now.
Some Irani sources are not ready to call the visit for the talks with US and see it just at bilateral level. Or it can be seen as not direct talks with US Team. The absence of team leaders at both sides proves this information is correct.
Iranian Foreign Minister landed at Islamabad alongwith Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Reza Amiri Moghaddam that means the Ambassador travelled to Tehran after his meeting with Prime Minister Pakistan couple of days ago.
The Iranian Foreign Minister was received by Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir along with other senior officials upon arrival.
During the visit, the Iranian Foreign Minister will hold meetings with Pakistan’s senior leadership to discuss the latest regional developments as well as ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability.
DPM/FM Ishaq Dar received a call today from Foreign Minister of Iran H.E. Abbas Araghchi .
Both sides exchanged views on regional developments, the ceasefire, and ongoing diplomatic efforts being pursued by Islamabad in the context of US-Iran engagement.
DPM/FM underscored the importance of sustained dialogue and engagement to address outstanding issues, in order to advance regional peace and stability at the earliest.
FM Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s consistent and constructive facilitation role in this regard, and both leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
In a post on his X account on Friday, Araqchi said he will begin a “timely” visit to Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow for talks on regional developments.
“Embarking on timely tour of Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow,” the top Iranian diplomat said.
“Purpose of my visits is to closely coordinate with our partners on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments,” he added.
“Our neighbors are our priority,” Araqchi stated.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar today held a telephonic conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and cooperation at multilateral fora in support of international peace & security.
FM Lavrov appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States.
DPM/FM underscored Pakistan’s resolve to continue contributing to efforts aimed at promoting dialogue and diplomacy to resolve all issues.
Reiterating the importance of maintaining regular high-level engagements, they discussed rescheduling of the visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Russia at an early mutually convenient date. DPM/FM also extended an invitation to FM Lavrov to visit Pakistan.
Both sides agreed to remain in touch.
