Spokesperson for Iran’s Armed Forces Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi says that US military capabilities are clearly waning, asserting that Washington has already deployed its maximum force in the aggression against the Islamic Republic.
In an interview on Friday, Brigadier General Shekarchi emphasized that Iranian forces maintain the operational initiative and are growing stronger daily, while simultaneously clarifying that the Strait of Hormuz has not been closed.
    Deteriorating US position
The commander stated that the criminal US-Israel regimes’ goal of regime change in Iran is naive, given the nation’s deep historical and spiritual roots. He said the US military is in decline, has deployed its full capabilities, and is now showing clear weakness after failing to resolve the conflict quickly.
He asserted that the Iranian armed forces have inflicted heavy blows and that the initiative now rests with Iran to determine the war’s end if aggression continues.
    Strait of Hormuz security
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the spokesman clarified that the Iranian military forces have not closed the Strait of Hormuz and that they emphasize its security. He affirmed that Iran will decisively target any vessel flying the flags of the United States or the Israeli regime. He urged neighboring Muslim nations to recognize that US bases on their soil are threats, not sources of security.
    Future actions, warnings
Shekarchi warned that Iran has preserved more advanced capabilities, promising further significant surprises for the enemy. He issued a warning to the leaders of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, stating that any cooperation with the US or the Israeli regime to host hostile elements will result in those locations becoming legitimate targets.
    Unity, resilience after Leader’s martyrdom
The spokesperson also offered condolences for the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Shekarchi asserted that all enemy assessments of the armed forces, people, and officials over the past days of conflict were fundamentally flawed.
He stressed that the organizational unity across the country makes the nation invincible, noting the public has shown even greater resolve.
Analysts note that the joint US-Israeli invasion, which began on February 28, 2026, following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, disregarded ongoing indirect negotiations.
In response, Iran launched precise retaliatory strikes against Israeli positions and US bases, citing its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and warned that further escalation will invite a harsher reaction.
