Minister Commerce Pakistan Meets Malaysian Officials Shaping New Partnerships in Various Sectors

Kuala Lumpur: October 7, 2025 – Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Commerce of Pakistan held important meetings with Ministers and businessmen community in Malaysia discussing cooperation and exploration of venues in difference sectors. The Minister for Commerce was accompanying Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his state visit to Malaysia from October 5-7.

YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister for Digital of Malaysia called on Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, on the sidelines of Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference on October 6 in Kuala Lumpur.

During the meeting, the Minister for Commerce and the Minister for Digital emphasized the growing importance of digital transformation in boosting trade, investment and technological collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia.

The two Ministers also exchanged views on expanding e-commerce platforms, facilitating cross-border digital services, strengthening cybersecurity cooperation and promoting joint ventures in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and 5G infrastructure.

The two Ministers expressed satisfaction over high successful and productive meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

They also expressed hope that the MoU signed during the visit between the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and ITeS (P@sha) and the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) on cooperation in IT sector, will significantly strengthen and deepen the digital linkages between Pakistan and Malaysia.

The two Ministers also jointly inaugurated the TechConnect Conference and delivered keynote addresses to participants representing leading and emerging companies from Malaysia and Pakistan.

The event featured prominent organizations such as MDEC, Cyberview, the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association, PIKOM, as well as representatives from AWS and Oracle. During the TechConnect Conference, the participating delegates engaged in presentations, discussions and networking sessions to explore innovative solutions, fostering collaboration and identifying new business opportunities in the digital and IT sectors.

 Jam Kamal Khan Meets Malaysian Deputy Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry YB Liew Chin Tong to Enhance Bilateral Economic and Trade Cooperation

YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister for Investment, Tarde and Industry of Malaysia (MITI), called on Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, on the sidelines of Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference on October 6 in Kuala Lumpur.

The Minister for Commerce was accompanying Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his state visit to Malaysia from October 5-7.

During the meeting, the Minister for Commerce and the Deputy Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) exchanged views on Pakistan-Malaysia bilateral economic and trade relations.

They discussed opportunities to strengthen partnerships across various sectors including information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, automotive, aviation, agro-food and halal trade, among others.

The two leaders also witnessed signing of eleven (10) B2B MoUs between Pakistani and Malaysian companies in agro-food, export of gelatine and seafood.

They also reflected positively on the productive and meaningful discussions held between Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing the shared vision for enhanced cooperation.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic ties, focusing on key sectors including manufacturing, technology and green energy.

Discussions also included potential ventures to boost Pakistan’s export capabilities and Malaysia’s investments in key industries to foster mutual growth.

The meeting underscored the importance of accelerating the implementation and renewal of Malaysia-Pakistan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA).

 Jam Kamal Khan Engages Leading Malaysian Companies to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Technology, Agriculture, and Investment Sectors

Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce was accompanying Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his visit to Malaysia from October 5-7.

During the visit, the Federal Minister for Commerce hosted Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference. On the margin of the Conference, the Federal Minister received curtesy calls from the leading Malaysian companies.

The Federal Minister received a courtesy call by the delegation of Amazon Web Services (AWS). The delegation expressed their keen interest in strengthening start up ecosystem in Pakistan. They also highlighted the possible visit of AWS leadership to Pakistan to further deepen cooperation, explore investment opportunities and support digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

The delegation of Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) briefed the Federal Minister on the Associations’ achievement and underlined their keen interest in collaboration with Pakistan in semiconductor software design. The Federal Minister for Commerce invited the MSIA leadership to visit Pakistan.

Dr. Chua and Tan Sri Kamarulzaman Founder and Advisor GWG- a Malaysian company with expertise in agricultural research in his meeting with the Federal Minister offered collaboration in seed technology to improve yields per hectare and R & D collaboration with Pakistani counterpart. The Federal Minister appreciated their offer and assured of his full support.

The Federal Minister also met with Mr. Tommy Yeah Head of Regional Operations Ant Group (an affiliate company of AliBaba Group with investments in Pakistan “Easypaisa”). Mr. Tommy expressed commitment to explore areas for future investments in fintech sector in Pakistan.

The Federal Minister’s productive and meaningful engagement with the Malaysian companies is expected to pave the way for new bilateral projects, capacity-building initiatives and knowledge exchange programs that will benefit both Pakistan and Malaysia.
