OPINION ; Rise of Terrorism Again in Pakistan – Reasons – by – Khawaja Hamzaa

After the suicide attack by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in Islamabad, there should be no doubt that the fire of terrorism will not be limited only to KPK, but if the government and state institutions do not show seriousness, God willing, we will be like 2014. Scenes will be revisited. The reason is obvious that our policy makers had formulated a policy based on assumptions and wishes about the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban and then used the state machinery to manipulate it.

“Dhandora” (Drum)was beaten that every Pakistani started believing in this hypothesis. That assumption was that Afghan and Pakistani Taliban have no relationship. TTP was created by “RAW” and Afghan Intelligence. Some people were putting it on the account of the US although all TTP leaders were targeted from US drone strikes, When our friend Taliban will be successful in Afghanistan, organizations like TTP will be destroyed automatically. This is the reason why the success of Taliban in Afghanistan was celebrated in the only country in the world, that was Pakistan.

The Prime Minister of that time Imran Khan said that Afghans broke the chains of slavery. The Pakistani media stormed Kabul to celebrate just as the Western media stormed there in triumph after the American invasion. Another mistake is that our policy makers look for the root cause of a problem and do not try to uproot it and the same thing happened with TTP.

The TTP was temporarily suppressed or pushed into Afghanistan through military operations, but here the phrase “we have broken the back of the terrorists” has been coined, even though the back has not been broken. The real damage to the TTP was done by US drones and none of their leadership could be targeted during the military operations.

Maulana Naik Mohammad, Baitullah Mehsud, Hakeemullah Mehsud and Maulana Fazlullah were all killed by drones. Targeted in attacks. Due to the presence of drones in the air, it was difficult for the leadership of TTP to communicate and gather together, but after the withdrawal of the US, the threat of drones became negligible.

The question is that during the last one year, TTP Where and how did reappear with such force? Let me tell u that Afghan and Pakistani Taliban have similar beliefs and ideologies. Their concepts of jihad and fighting are the same. T

he Pakistani Taliban took up arms, in support or at the behest of the Afghan Taliban. They consider their Amirul Mominin as their Amirul Mominin. Therefore, when they saw that the Taliban defeated powers like the United States and NATO through armed struggle, naturally the morale of the Pakistani Taliban and other religious military forces also increased.

They had formed a separate group in the name of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar under the leadership of Abdul Wali alias Khalid Khorasani. Hafiz Saeed (of Karam Agency) went to Daesh etc. Since Mufti Noor Wali is a tribal Mehsud and also an educated and intelligent Mufti, after he became Amir, he not only reunited all the factions but also brought many new groups into the TTP.

This series continues and just yesterday a group belonging to Makran of Balochistan under the leadership of Mazar Baloch pledged allegiance to Mufti Noor Wali by becoming a part of TTP. No attention has been given to this issue, while the current federal government’s priorities have also left this issue far behind.

Our policy makers and hypothesis analysts had convinced Pakistanis that the TTP was backed by the governments of Hamid Karzai and Ashraf Ghani, but the reality was that nearly four thousand TTP workers included important leaders like Maulvi Faqir Muhammad of Bajaur, who were imprisoned in Afghan jails and when the Afghan Taliban broke the jails there, these people were also released and rejoined the TTP.

During the past years, the Pakistani Taliban had taken shelter in the caves and mountains of Konar, Nuristan, Paktia, Nangarhar and Khost provinces, but in the case of the victory of the Taliban, they got access to the whole of Afghanistan, they sat together. Now they can sit together and consult and plan with ease and freedom, while now they have migrated in large numbers to the tribal districts and areas like Swat.

TTP workers or sympathizers were present in different areas of Pakistan in the form of sleeper cells, but due to lack of contact with the leadership, they remained silent. After the victory of the Taliban in Afghanistan, they also moved to Afghanistan and became active again with there organization.

After the American withdrawal, the resources of the TTP also increased a lot and the latest weapons left by the United States also came into their hands because the booty of the areas where the TTP was present or resisting came in TTP section.

After the American withdrawal from Afghanistan and the establishment of the Islamic Emirate of the Taliban there, the issue of TTP was demanding a lot of prudence and wisdom, but Imran Khan’s government showed a lot of haste. At DGISI level, direct negotiations were held with TTP in which promises were made to them which were impossible to fulfill.

Even after the change of government, the tragedy remained that the matter of negotiations with the TTP remained in the hands of the Corps Commander of Peshawar and the Pakhtunkhwa government and the federal government continued to watch the spectacle in this regard. Still, the interest of government figures like the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the provincial government in this matter is negligible.

The latest example is the CTD center in Bannu. Security forces personnel and many other prisoners were held hostage there. In short, our rulers and political classes are taking this matter very lightly, rather, they have left it to the army and police as a matter of law and order.But to me, this issue is very serious and requires strong political and diplomatic efforts and coordination between various governments and institutions.
