ISLAMABAD: 27 March 2025 – Uzbek Ambassador H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev met with the Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication to discuss expanding digital collaboration between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

The Ambassador highlighted Uzbekistan’s strategic position in Central Asia and proposed key initiatives, including a bilateral startup ecosystem, venture capital for tech projects, digital skills training (especially for women), and joint educational programs.

He also stressed the need for ministerial exchanges, an agreement on New Emerging Technologies, and a Joint Working Group (JWG) on IT & Telecom.

The Federal Minister for IT welcomed these initiatives, emphasizing Pakistan’s strong cybersecurity capabilities through NCERT and NTISB. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a One Window System for digital services and noted that the Ministry of IT has already shared an Action Plan with Uzbekistan via MOFA.

She also underscored the importance of Optical Fiber Connectivity (OFC) through the Wakhan Corridor and China’s Digital Silk Road, which would enhance regional digital integration and low-latency communication for Central Asian Republics (CARs).

Highlighting Pakistan’s eight National Incubation Centers (NICs), the Minister invited Uzbek collaboration in nurturing startups and fostering innovation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing digital transformation, strengthening cybersecurity, and accelerating tech-driven economic growth in the region.
