ISLAMABAD : Ambassador Paulo Domingues paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, for an exchange of views on the policies of Portugal and Pakistan regarding their respective diasporas.The meeting addressed the protection and assistance of citizens abroad, regular labour mobility, skills development, community engagement, and the return and reintegration of migrants.
Particular attention was given to the development of regular and well-regulated labour mobility channels between Portugal and Pakistan, with both sides stressing the importance of legal, transparent and properly verified recruitment processes, as well as the prevention of irregular migration.
The Embassy of Portugal looks forward to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of diaspora affairs and labour mobility, contributing to closer people-to-people ties between Portugal and Pakistan.
