The address of the President of Uzbekistan to the 76th session of UNGA depicted his deep research into the regional and global issues that needs collective approach and collaborative efforts to tackle with. President Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again proved that he feels the pain of whole world community and suggests the ways forward to the solving the hard problems.

He wisely pointed out that humanity is at a turning point in its path of development and the nature of international relations is changing dramatically. The transnational threats to peace, security and sustainable development are growing. The climate is rapidly changing. The mass migration flows are increasing and traditional values are declining.

President mentioned the menace at the most relevant forum where high representative of every nation heard him with full attention and took notes as well. We can hope and look forward that Secretary General, as supported by the President in his address, will certainly enhance the efficiency and transparency of the Organization, as described by the President.

Mr. Antonio Guterres himself recognizes the efforts of President of Uzbekistan in moving forward to achieving the millennium development goals and peace in the region and in the world.

A peaceful region and peace among the nations and the regions has always been the corner stone of foreign policy of Uzbekistan. President attaches great importance to note the necessity of maintenance of peace in his every national and international address. In this regard, the latest example is Afghanistan where peace and stability is desired by all.

Uzbekistan has left no stone unturned to secure that goal by sustaining the communication links and supply of the commodities that Afghanistan was already importing. Further a broad based representative set up is favored by Uzbekistan to bring peace in neighboring country that is central for the peace and development in the whole region.

At UNGA , he took the lead to propose establishing specialized agencies at global level under UN supervision for saving the humanity from climate change and environmental disasters that is highly appreciative. UNGA has already adopted Special Resolution declaring the Aral Sea Region as a zone of environmental innovation and technology. This resolution was prepared and presented by Uzbekistan in connection with the vision of the President. It clearly indicates that Uzbekistan takes environmental issues very seriously.

The President put forward initiative of Global Environment Charter aimed at laying the foundations of a new environmental policy of the United Nations. He mentioned the difficult situation in Aral Sea Region that is center of ecological disaster. Uzbekistan is working deeply on this issue and it is need of the time that all countries effected directly or indirectly come forth in strengthening the efforts to save the environment, animals and people of this region.

Connectivity in central Asia and beyond is another pillar of Uzbekistan’s approach to securing the international cooperation for common development and prosperity for the people of all regions. President in his address , refreshed the members about Uzbekistan’s proposal to adopt a special Resolution on strengthening the inter-connectivity of Central and South Asia.

Secretary General already has supported this vision in his online address to International Conference Tashkent in July this year. All states of these two regions and other stake holders spoke highly in favor of Central Asia South Asia Connectivity. Therefore the resolution seems to have no obstacle in the way of adoption by the UNGA.
