President Tokayev Condemns Burning of Quran – Urges UNO for Vocal Role to Stop Impermissible Provocations

Astana, July 29, 2023 – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev considers the acts of burning the Holy Quran in some Northern European countries as impermissible provocations aimed at escalating tension in the modern world and undermining trust among the peoples and states.

Kazakhstan is the initiator of the Congress of the World and Traditional Religions Leaders. This Forum has become a platform for an effective and fruitful dialogue among prominent representatives of traditional religions and confessions.

According to the Head of State, the increasing cases of religious vandalism and irresponsible behavior of the residents in respective countries should be unanimously condemned as actions that counter the generally recognized norms of civilized coexistence among states and religions.

The UN General Assembly should assume a vocal role in this matter.
