Presidential Election in Uzbekistan on 24 Oct Supposed to be Maximum Democratic & Transparent

  • Tazeen Akhtar from Tashkent ; 23 Oct 2021 –  Presidential election in Uzbekistan is on 24 oct in which five candidates are taking part including the present President Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Uzbekistan election commission has taken all possible measures to make the election maximum democratic, transparent and free.

The constitution of Uzbekistan allows the President to contest for second term. Government of Uzbekistan has evolved and implemented a number of policies and decisions in past few years that have led the country towards a society of democratic rights and equal opportunities to grow and to contest elections at any stage and level.

For example 4 candidates are in run against the sitting President without any fear and discrimination. Moreover the candidates can move the court if they are not satisfied with the results. Election expenditures will be monitored and the candidates will have to provide the record of their spendings on the campaign. No official or official machinery can be used in favor or in opposition of any candidate.

An independent election commission is holding the election in which government has no interference.Arrangements have been assured on local, regional and national level to pave the way toward a free election providing level playing field to all candidates.

Above all more than 750 foreign observers including journalists have arrived in Uzbekistan to examine the preparations and transparency measures taken so far. Pakistan is also among 45 countries from where the observers have been accredited to monitor the election process.
