Islamabad: 12 June 2024 – Radio Pakistan PBC employees are working for last four months without salary that has forced them to “celebrate” Eid with no new clothes and shoes for their kids let alone they can sacrifice or not.
This is bleak picture of the state mouth organ that defends government inside and outside the country. On one hand the government expenditures increased up to 13 thousand 682 rupees and on one side Radio employees are making both ends meet without salaries for last many months.
The workers are still serving selflessly in the corporation. But many of them are so much depressed that God forbid , some untoward incident can happen at any time.
More unfortunate is that the administration of the Radio is taking strict actions against the employees who reach to Director General Saeed Ahmad Sheikh for release of their salary. Few days ago a female worker has been terminated from service only because she was asking the DG for salary again and again.
The sources at the corporation shared on the condition of anonymity that not only that lady worker but almost all lower staff is hand to mouth for last few months but administration does not bother to address their grievances. They said it is very hard to reach from far flung areas to the Radio when they do not have few rupees of transport rent or petrol for their bikes.
An official has shared that no one has been terminated from service in these days. Further he said that the cheques till April have been handed over to all artists.
But the report above is not about the Artists (Outsourced) persons. It is about the salaries of the regular and contract employees as mentioned clearly in the report. The official shared nothing about that.
This state of affairs at the Radio Pakistan is affecting the deliverance of the workers. They can not focus on their work because their pockets are empty and their families are starving. The employees has appealed to Minister information Atta Ullah Tarar to intervene in this bad state of the state radio before it is too late.
