ISLAMABAD : Monitoring Desk – Two different stories are coming from Ukraine and Russia about an aerial bomb attack on the village of Yarova in the Donetsk Oblast at the moment of pension distribution to civilians. Ukrainian side is confirming the attack that took lives of 24 people while 19 are injured. Russia categorically denies it as fake.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration said the strike had also damaged a service vehicle belonging to Ukraine’s national postal service Ukrposhta.
Pensions were being distributed from a “Ukrposhta” car parked under trees, and people were waiting in line.
Filashkin said, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on the village of Yarova in Donetsk Oblast on 9 September, killing 24 civilians and injuring 19 while pensions were being distributed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that “such Russian strikes must not be left without an appropriate response from the world”. He has released a video statement confirming and condemning the attack on his social media.
“Frankly brutal,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a post on Telegram of Tuesday’s attack, urging the international community to make Russia pay economically for its full-scale invasion through additional sanctions.
“The world should not remain silent,” Zelenskyy wrote. “The world should not remain inactive. The United States needs a reaction. Europe needs a reaction. The G20 needs a reaction. Strong action is needed so that Russia stops bringing death.”
Russian Tv RT aired that Russian Ministry of Defence sources confirm to RIA there were NO strikes on the town. The last Russian action nearby was on Sept 7, far closer to the frontlines.
The Russian side states , ” Although AFP, the very source that spread this fake news in Pakistan, said it could not verify the images posted by Ukrainian officials, some respected Pakistani media outlets rushed to publish it.”

Here the only way to reach the truth is to check the media reports from other countries than Russia and Ukraine. All the Western media has reported the same what Ukraine is confirming but the West is with Ukraine and their media reports can also be termed as fake by Russian side.
Indian Newspaper The Indian Express has also published the same what is claimed by Ukraine, qouting the Ukraine Emergency Service. It reported , “A Russian glide bomb struck a village in eastern Ukraine as people stood in line in the open air Tuesday morning to collect their monthly pension. The blast killed at least 24 people and injured 19 others.
Donetsk regional head Vadym Filashkin said 23 of the dead were pensioners. Yarova resident Hennadii Trush said his wife was killed in the blast as she waited to collect the pension of her bedridden mother-in-law. Afterward, Trush fled Yarova with his elderly mother, who was carried out on a stretcher.
In shock and with soot still on his face, Trush wept as he described the scene of the attack. “It was beyond words,” he told The Associated Press. “Before, strikes landed on the outskirts. This time it was right in the center of the village.”
The Indian Express published as United Nations saying , “It was the latest Russian attack to kill civilians. More than 12,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed in the three-year war.
