ISLAMABAD (Press Release) The attention of the Senate Secretariat has been drawn to certain media reports regarding the purchase of a vehicle (Land Cruiser) for the Honourable Chairman Senate. These reports are misleading, factually incorrect, and appear to be based on incomplete information and malafide intentions.
The Spokesperson of the Senate Secretariat has clarified that the vehicle in question, a Land Cruiser, was duly purchased in May, 2025, during the financial year 2024-2025 through a transparent procurement process as part of an overall vehicle replacement plan.
The purchase included replacement of vehicles allocated to Chairman Standing Committees, Deputy Chairman Senate, the Leader of the House, the Leader of the Opposition and the Senate Secretariat.
It is further clarified that vehicle has been delivered in March, 2026, whereas the payment was made from previous year budget savings in May, 2025.
The Senate Secretariat categorically rejects these baseless insinuations and urges media organizations to exercise due diligence and professional responsibility in reporting matters related to state institutions.

It is common in government sector, when any report is published about their wrong doings or corruption, they react in the same way. Categorically Reject ! State in State of Denial !
Simple thing to ponder is , a land cruiser has been purchased for a single person who already has many such vehicles at the Senate Secretariate. That is the disturbing point. When the gov is asking everyone for austerity, how the third in protocol book of the state can dare to buy luxuries , that not for one but for all.
And what stops the chairman from return the vehicle and send it to gov transport pool. Further, as he said , he could not cancel the order because the land cruiser reached at the destination, at least he can cancel the orders for other vehicles , that have not reached so far.
