Speakers of Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan Meet on Strengthening Fraternal Ties: Parliamentary Cooperation for Regional Peace, Security, and Prosperity

    ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary leaders of Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan has pledged to strengthen cooperation between three brotherly countries at all levels in their domains and play their role for peace, security, properity in their respective countries and among the states of the regions .
    They expressed their views at the inaugural session of the Third Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan that was held today at the National Assembly Secretariat, chaired by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
     
    The session was attended by Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, H.E. Sahiba Gafarova; Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, H.E. Numan Kurtulmuş; and Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
    In his opening remarks, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted the trilateral parliamentary cooperation as a reflection of the deep-rooted brotherhood and strategic partnership among the three nations. He noted that this collaboration represents not only governmental ties but also the collective will of their peoples and parliaments.
    Referring to the theme “Strengthening Fraternal Ties: Parliamentary Cooperation for Regional Peace, Security, and Prosperity”, NA Speaker emphasized that it embodies the shared vision and unity of Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan.
    Touching upon global and regional challenges, the NA Speaker condemned violations of sovereignty and human rights abuses, particularly in Gaza and the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He denounced India’s aggression and propaganda, lauded Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their valor in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, and thanked friendly nations—especially Türkiye, Azerbaijan, China, and Saudi Arabia—for their steadfast support.
    Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also criticized India’s breach of the Indus Waters Treaty, terming its actions as “water terrorism” undermining regional peace. On regional security, NA Speaker reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism collectively, acknowledging the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs.
    Highlighting climate change as a pressing concern, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq called for enhanced regional cooperation and a unified parliamentary framework to address climate challenges faced by climate-vulnerable nations like Pakistan.
    Concluding his address, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed appreciation to his counterparts for their participation and reiterated that the friendship among Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan is anchored in mutual respect, trust, and enduring brotherhood.
    Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan ,Turkiye and Azerbaijan have a shared vision for progress and prosperity of the region.

    He said that our nations are united by faith and shared destiny. He expressed his appreciation for the speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for bringing the three nations together at a time when our unity is both a message and a mission.He observed that the theme of the meeting is close to his heart as he strongly believes in power of dialogue , dignity and democracy.

    Mr. Gilani further remarked that our nations have stood by the side of each other in testing times and our relationship is based on mutual respect and cooperation. ” From Khilafat Movement that united the hearts of Muslims across continents, to Pakistan’s unwaving support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and Turkiye’s unflinching advocacy for Kashmir’s just cause -our histories have converged whenever justice called, and our people stood together whenever humanity demanded it”, the Chairman Senate stated.

    He also recalled his tenure as prime minister of Pakistan and said that he had the privilege of meeting with leaders from Turkiye and Azerbaijan at different forums.

    He said that Muslim world faces storms of adversity in Palestine , Indian occupied Kashmir and other regions. The situation, he said, demands from our parliaments to rise to the moment and become platforms of conscience , clarity and courage. He called upon the participants to work together in the field of security, trade, education, technology and cultural exchanges to create bridge of understanding based on trust, respect and shared vision.

    Mr. Gilani also brief the participants about the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference(ISC) schedules to be held next month in Islamabad with the same shared vision of peace, security and development. He termed this meeting as a precursor to a new chapter in parliamentary diplomacy.

    ” No nation can secure its future in isolation , just as no man can walk alone through a storm” the Chairman Senate added while highlighting importance of collective aspirations of peace , security and development. He further remarked that peace and prosperity are not destinations, they are journeys and our nations are companions bound together by shared value and guided by shared purpose in this journey.

    He called for deepening cooperation, expanding consultative processes and strengthening the parliamentary voice of our people.

    The Chairman Senate expressed his gratitude for both the speaker of Grand National Assembly of Turkiye and the Speaker of Mili Majlis of Republic of Azerbaijan for visiting Pakistan to participate in the important meeting. He hoped for solid outcomes of the consultations during the meeting and said that the discussions would pave the way for boosting mutual cooperation and linkages in diverse sectors, promoting people-to-people contacts and strengthening parliamentary linkages.
