The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Türkiye celebrated the 39th anniversary of the TRNC’s foundation in Islamabad Pakistan on 24th of Nov instead of the Day 15 Nov. Representative of TRNC Ms Dilsad Senol along with Ambassador Turkiye Dr Mehmet Pacaci hosted a reception at Serena Hotel that was attended by envoys of many countries, government officials, parliamentarians, business community and media persons. This national day is of great importance for TRNC because it is the first after the Republic has been admitted in International Forum Organization of Turkic States.
TRNC has repersentation in 25 countries of the world. TRNC is present at Organization of Islamic Conference and Economic Cooperation Organization. The observer status at Organization of Turkic States will further pave the way to the recognition of TRNC by the members states of OTS Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and the observers states like Turkmenistan and Hungary.
President Erdoğan celebrated the 39th foundation anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).In his post on his social media account, President Erdoğan shared the following message: “I congratulate the 39th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and remember with respect and compassion all our martyrs and veterans who fought for our independence and future. Türkiye will continue to support our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters and the TRNC.”
Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar kick started the celebration in Capital Lefkosa with his message and 21 cannon shots that followed the nation wide activities with strong determination that TRNC will continue its struggle to be acknowledged as an independent self reliant state sooner or later.
In Pakistan,the celebration was scheduled on 15 Nov 2022 but it was postponed to express solidarity with the victims of blast in Istanbul.
Chairman Foreign Relations Committee of Senate of Pakistan, Mushahid Hussain, Advisor to Prime Minister, Faisal Kareem Kundi, Federal Ombudsperson Harassment against Women, Ms Kashmala Tariq, Senator Dr Shehzad Waseem, Former Minister Nisar Memon and many others were prominent among the participants.
In 1974, a Greek Cypriot coup aimed at Greece’s annexation led to Türkiye’s military intervention as a guarantor power to protect Turkish Cypriots from persecution and violence. As a result, the TRNC was established in 1983.TRNC has been upgraded to a full fledged state status since its independence but European Union and United Nations have double standards when the case is about the Turkic Muslims in the same island whose another part Greek Cyprus is recognized state and member of EU.
President Tatar highlighted that the TRNC “represents the peak point of the Turkish Cypriote people’s freedom, independence and sovereignty.Citizens of the TRNC get to “live freely and fearlessly under the roof of their government.We vow to never give up on mainland Türkiye as our guarantor and the Turkish army at whatever cost. Even if the ‘single-toothed beast’ comes down on us, we will never allow our state, freedom and sovereignty to be trampled upon.
Türkiye’s government and people celebrated this day in consensus and harmony with Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters. The Republic of Türkiye once again affirmed that it will stand as it always has by the Turkish Cypriot and the TRNC with the awareness of its historic and conscientious responsibility.
The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) joined the caravan and extended its good wishes to the country.Secretary-General and Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev said in a statement “I offer my sincerest congratulations to the TRNC, our observer state, for the anniversary of its foundation Nov. 15 Republic Day,”
TRNC became a non-member observer state of the OTS at the organization’s ninth summit in Samarkand last week in a move welcomed as a “positive development” by the TRNC. It marks the first time the TRNC is being represented in an international organization with its constitutional name.
